    Master Debonair
We are going to have a crack at the Champion Hurdle with him and see if we are good enough. He is a Grade 2 winner last year and he is in and is very well. He is going to run in the Elite Hurdle at Wincanton the first weekend in November.

I'm gonna request a price with 365 for a laugh. 100/1 and we both back him, yea?
Now that I’ve given back my Tizzard fan club membership he’ll probably clean up this year. I’d definitely have a small poke on the Master if the price is right.

    • What are the odds that connections blame the ground if Goshen gets chinned again today. ?

      • Trainers sure know alot more then me! But to be trying to nick a pot in heavy going around ascot isnt great prep for a champion hurdle surely?! He should be schooling over hurdles

1/100. Wonder what price he’ll drift out to for the CH if he does get beat?

            • Moore talking about the Elite Hurdle at Wincanton for Goshen's first hurdles race.
Not the best champion hurdle trial.
Usually where shitty hyped up horses go too.

Although Rock on Ruby came third their once, a couple of years after he won the Champion and had a wanky season chasing in between.

Wincanton is the polar opposite of what's needed for Cheltenham, the final 3 furlongs are downhill with almost no test of stamina whatsoever.
It's probably a good place to start for Goshen though with his flat speed, but he'll need his jumping to be tested under pressure at some point between November and March to have what it takes to even line up on the Tuesday.
Not impossible he lines up on the Friday....

                • Yeah it a terrible trial, normally the race which starts the beginning of the end for most of these juveniles

                  • Any excuses now for Goshen fans? I mean at least he wasn't last

                        • It was a truly awful ride from Crouch and rides like that can leave their mark. That said, the only hope is that hurdles can spark him into life. He's nowhere near the level of last season.

Why was it a bad ride ?
                            Because he kept trying ?
I thought at Haydock a legitimate excuse might have been going too fast, when not as fit to be able to maintain it.
But although today may have been similar, the second was up with him for the majority of the race.
He could have kept to the rail but that's hard to do when they're getting tired.

                            • Its poor placing from gary moore and hes the only person to blame, you dont see the likes of mullins/hendo/elliott trying to grab 15k or whatever on the flat with their 'champ hurdle' horses.

Barely pushed out much with bookies again also means that Goshen 6-7/1 must be as bad as pentland hills price was mid season last year
