      • Goshen update

Goshen is set to make his seasonal debut over jumps in the International Hurdle at Cheltenham next month after being taken out of the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at the five-day confirmation stage.

Gary Moore has decided to wait for the Grade Two contest on December 12th rather than go to Newcastle.

It means Goshen will return to Cheltenham, the scene of his dramatic final-flight exit in the Triumph Hurdle in March.

"Everything's fine. There's nothing wrong," said Moore.

"Hopefully we'll see him in the International. We've decided to wait for that.

"I'm very happy with him so far."

          Ruth Jefferson maybe ?

I'd imagine Maries' Rock is a reserve entry in case Newbury is off, or Epatante misses the race.

            • But worth noting, in that eventuality she was thought good enough.

              • Does anyone else think the Saldier entry in the Hattons Grace is a potential big positive for how Willie views him.
He will have assumed Honeysuckle would start here.

I have a hunch that they think he may be up to the task.
                But it's just that.

Goes very well fresh (as does Honeysuckle), so you'd be looking for a big run. That 7lbs may be crucial though.

Issue is he gets pulled far too often for me to think about it yet. Definitely merits discussion if he's declared, but I agree with you in principle

It'll give them an indication of where they sit with the Mare and how good she is. It might even persuade them to go a different route with some of theirs should he get smashed as I expect him to.

I don't think he'll have thought about it.

Big enough job splitting his own deck?

Also no, his runners/placed horses have been horses like Bacardys, Limini, Nichols Canyon, Vroum Vroum Mag, Shaneshill, Zaidpour, Diakali and Arctic Fire.

An above average bunch on the whole in the grand scheme of things, however I don't think it means Saldier is particularly special?

I'd love Honeysuckle to beat her, by just out staying him, by less than 7lbs.... meaning she'd have feck all chance in a 2m rematch and that he's just come out creditably over a trip too far - easy?

I think he'd like to make a point myself. It's just whether he has the ammunition or not.
Recent times he has ran good horses but not his very best ones.
I remember him running Hurricane Fly in it who was second favourite to Solwhit, in the Fly's first Champion hurdle winning season.

                          He's a very competitive man.
Although he does play the long game.
Sometimes it's handy to lay a marker down.
He would dearly love to end Honeysuckles unbeaten run, that's for sure.

                          I like the entry
                          I'll really like the declaration.
But not sure if he'll beat the mare.
But it'll be a price thing and anything around 4-1 and I'll be interested. (after decs)

Being serious, we all know that he's just a greedy bugger and us happy to pick up a big prize for finishing 2nd or 3rd. Can't blame him. Saldier gets a nice prep run as well so job done

I can't have the horse at all so no doubt he'll bolt up.

Would actually like to see that:

                              A) It would teach me for being so judgemental and narrow-minded
                              B) It would encourage Honey's connections to go for the Mares Hurdle even more.

                              COME ON SALDIER!

PP have just trimmed Saldier from opening 7/1 to 5/1. They are the only bookie quoting so far. I know no decs. yet. Honey 4/6
