I'm fully expecting and backed Goshen to win at the weekend.
Laurina is my only concern. She has already ran and finished 4th in a Champion Hurdle. She's a fair mare on her day, but she has her issues, that have been well documented already.
God this feels like we're back in 2019! I wish! Feels like deja vu this COD, where's Allmankind when you fuc*ing need him eh!
You were right last year, and you could be right this year!
I must say though that looking to use Laurina as a potential marker with a view to this feels like you've picked up the white flag, you just haven't waved it yet.
The more I look at this race, the more I'm thinking that Goshen can not bloody lose!
His running style will be key here, they'll kick off after a mile and maintain a Cyrname like gallop
You have horses in this that...
- wont like the ground
- wont like being carried round by Goshen, and pushed along at a course like Ascot which is a b*tch in soft/testing ground and you have a idiot that loves conditions and kicks off and makes it a punishing race
- so called Graded horses, that are pretty much Grade 2 horses that are too high up in the handicap
- handicappers who arent well 'handicapped' here
I'm wont of the Goshen "aint going to do jack" folks on this forum.
However, and although I laughed at his price at first, I fully expect him to win this race, and I will back him (first for everything)
He's going to leave these lot struggling, probably leading them by 10 lengths as he gets to the last hurdle, and he's going to coast home - some will get all excited and try and get more on for the Champ Hurdle. I wont be. I know he has little left in that tank towards the end of his races, and when he's get to Cheltenham, he'll be well and truly found out
I'm having mad thoughts for a Wednesday... apologies :-)
I'll be really impressed if he gets most of these off the bridle.
I think one or two may be able to go with him.
Although he could get a soft lead I suppose.
Probably ought to consider laying him in running.

This is not even close to 2019, I'm not actually sure Goshen will be Champion Hurdle level, as it is so so difficult for juveniles to perform in open company that first season, which I have noted previously in this thread.
I do however expect him to win at Ascot, but Laurina is his potential banana skin, IMO. I'm definitely not using Laurina as a benchmark for his Champion Hurdle prospects, yeah she finished 4th, as I noted, but she was really well beat that day.

Very fair, and it was said tongue in cheek! . The Champion Hurdle market is crying out for something to come from somewhere, so if it's Goshen I'll happily be wrong and take a more exciting division - we need something other than Epatante that looks semi decent in the race!
Abnormal scope I'd imagine. Could see him in Fighting Fifth now though
"Goshen is absolutely fine but his scope wasn’t brilliant this morning," said Moore. "If he scopes clean and everything is okay then he'll go to the Fighting Fifth [at Newcastle on November 28]. If not it will be the International Hurdle at Cheltenham."

Gary Moore doesn't like spending money on diesel, I'd be surprised if he took Goshen all the way to Newcastle...
