    poor ride from Walsh
    Slow pace didnt help

    YET beaten two short heads

You would think Champion hurdle will be ran at fast pace that will help, he will settle better , decent ground or better than today more than likely. Bigger field definately will help , can see him sitting off pace just like in county hurdle. He has proven Cheltenham form , proved today for first time in career he is a grade one horse and Mullins seems to think he learnt plenty about him today.Still only a baby and not only Willie learnt about him , think Saint Roi himself would have learnt plenty. Id expect to see different horse next time , more streetwise for sure.

Epatante looks the one to beat but Saint Roi will give her a race.
I don't disagree entirely with what you said.
But beaten two short heads to what ? would be the worry.

The supreme runner up may well be as good as the supreme placed horses in the previous 2 renewals.

      • Any reason ever given by Mullins as to why no Saldier today? Wouldn’t be like him to only turn out one for these races.

Usually would be dead against backing a horse that’s clearly fragile at this stage of the season but did make an exception for Saldier, however you’d have to be worrying as to why he wasn’t declared for this.

He said he's going to the Hatton's Grace.

He's always mentioned the Hatton's Grace as the target too, even when he mentioned the Morgiana.

          No worries...

          • As a Saint Roi backer I wanted to see him piss up and really rubber stamp his CH credentials, but having watched the race back I'm frustratingly left with more questions than answers, which is definitely preferable to seeing him getting beat fair and square.

if thats true Lobos , id say thats a plus. Nico under rated jockey imo , seems to go about his business in workmanlike fashion yet gets job done.

                  • While it's no surprise that those who have already had a bet would be looking for positives, I really don't see where any of today's racing would encourage anyone to go in again or for the first time.

If you came in fresh to the market today, that is definitely true!

They may get nibbled at over the next few days?

Gut says it's not good enough form, but that brings down the level of the horses I do like! Answer somewhere in between?

                        • Question......who, along with me, thinks Honeysuckle would have put those away today ?? She'd have run away from them surely??

                          • Epatante looks more likely to be odds on after today's race.

As I've said already, I'd put a line through today's race.
It just means we've learned nothing much at all, which was my fear prior to the race.
No pace, means no championship form to go on.

You'd think she'd easily better than Jason The Militant...but then again she struggled to beat Darver Star last time she ran over 2m.

The unknown is how they'd have all run if Honey was in there, would she have made all? Would that have suited the others?

Was just about to mention this, does she now look more likely to win the Irish champion and therefore have a crack at the champion hurdle? I am sure Lobos doesn't need any further cheering up today lol.

                                Congrats by the way mate.
