Managed to get out of Captain Guinness without loss for the Arkle. After hearing todays update about fibrillating heart I had small 1/2 point freebie at 40/1 for CH
HDB comments re Honeysuckle in the RP stable tour imo scream Champion Hurdle over Mares Hurdle. All depends on whether she wins Irish Champion Hurdle again and how well she wins it.
Honeysuckle

She's still only six and it was fantastic to win the Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham with her last season. It was a close call between that race and the Champion and it probably will be again, although there's a lot to get through before we arrive at that point. She's summered really well as she came back looking brilliant and is working well. We'll aim initially for the Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse and go from there. We'll look for a similar campaign as last year and go for the Irish Champion Hurdle, and from there we'll see how things are unfolding.
From a personal point of view Honeysuckle running in the CH would be very painful for my antepost book of doubles and trebles. Over 120 placed in lockdown boredom (and 27 are for the Mares and 0 for the CH). Really hope the best 2.5 mile mare goes the correct route and keeps my bets intact
I know the owners are on record saying they want to support the Mares program, but if she wins the Irish Champion Id say she's a certainty to go for the CH myself. They've already won a Mares hurdle... Epatante hardly sets an impossibly high bar. Why be left wondering what she could have done?

The best 2 and a half mile mare is in Mullins yard and should’ve won it this year but for some ridiculous riding from a couple of jockeys.

They managed to resist the urge last year when the CH looked poor and she’d won an Irish Champion already.

Maybe they're looking at her actual 2m Irish Champion Hurdle win and realising they she run her at her optimum trip?
She beat Darver Star 0.5l and Petit Mouchoir 1l in the Irish Champion Hurdle.... she didn't win that race on the bridle, she was ridden along and stayed on.
Nobody is doubting her class would get her involved in the CH, but if they do go for it, I won't be particularly worried about it, unless she's beaten horses like Abacadabras/Saint Roi/Saldier along the way, easily...
The chance to get her in the book will be easy for the CH, definitely not something that'd interest me now.

No me neither. Wouldn't want her onside in the CH right now. I think the Mares Hurdle is absolutely the right race for her. Just opining on where I think they will go. And would be hard to blame them for giving it a go. The CH would be more of a test than the Irish version which would only help.

I wouldn't blame them either, but that's because I'd rather the Mares Hurdle was a Grade 2.
At 2 miles, I don't think Honeysuckle would beat Epatante.
At 2m4f I don't think Epatante would beat Honeysuckle (would love to see that clash at Aintree if they both won at the festival)>
It's the same with Benie Des Dieux too, I don't think she's a 2 miler (whilst she obviously wouldn't disgrace herself, I don't think she'd win all things being equal).
To be perfectly honest I'm hoping that before the Irish Champion Hurdle Honeysuckle has been beaten at 2m by a Mullins runner or Abacadabras and that'll end the debate. Not sure they will clash beforehand at 2 miles though, and if she does beat them I'll be comfortable assessing the landscape as it lies a month out!
