I would say that each years market is unique, my comments are only there to show that backing short-priced horses to win jump races months in advance can be beaten by horses we dont even know about, or are switched to the race, or improve, or beat favs that fall in the race.

Its the wonderful nature of racing.
Absolutely spot on, that's why we love it!

With the mares allowance she is 2lbs shy of Goshens rating, and her Cheltenham form over 2m is fair, at the very least. As you've noted, she needs a massive step up, but so does Goshen, and they are almost 29pts difference in price
I was just going to say from that list Concertista is the only one at a big price that deserves a second look. Saint Roi for me is the one but at double figures but I do like that price of Concertista too. Might add her soon.

They are the two that I've focused on too.

Both Saint Roi and Concertista were so good last season I'm hoping they both plan to head here, at the moment, for a new Willie Mullins charge at the race.

Yeah I think my initial reaction, and when watching the festival back I assumed Concertista would be one for the Mares Hurdle, but it's only because I'm clinging to Willie being quite clear PRE race he thought she'd want a step up in trip. I suppose the race course evidence doesn't prove she does need that. Also, the owners aren't ones to shirk the big races.

The 33/1 is fair, I'll wait for now though.

If BDD wasn't in the Mares Hurdle come March I could see Concertista going there.

A lot of water under the bridge until Willie makes his last minute decisions.

Agree . Got those 2 on board along with Eptante and Honeysuckle plus Malone Road. Should have the 1/2/3 there.

He even sounds like a Champion Hurdle winner. Just pay out now.

                      • It would be difficult to argue that this year’s Supreme Novice Hurdle was NOT an above-average renewal when comparing the race to the below-par renewal of the 2020 Champion Hurdle on a time b…

                        • The Triumph Hurdle looked to be an extremely strong renewal on paper this term but that may not have been the case according to the times in comparison with the County Handicap Hurdle run on the sa…

                            He's alright is Daryl.
Agree with most of his stuff, and this write up of the supreme vs champion is definitely along the right lines to my mind anyway.

And his Oddschecker photographs are fucking hilarious.

                            • Goshen has been cut in price today for the Champions Day Long Distance Cup (Group 2) over 2M on 17th October.

After opening up at 33/1 when the market went up, he was already down to 20/1 this morning, but is now generally 12/1 (but 20/1, 16/1 and 14/1 in one place each is left).

Maybe they think he will tank-in on his comeback rated 88 in a handicap at Haydock over the weekend.

Be interesting to see him run this weekend.
How will fans of his feel if he gets beat off 88 on the flat ?

Hopefully he runs against Not so Sleepy at Haydock too, as that would almost be a formline

On the Champion Hurdle front. I watched it last night again.
And Epatante is value for more than her winning margin.
She won easy as she liked.
I'd say she has at least another 7-10lbs in her mark.
