Haha you mean Lobos playing down participants because he said earlier in the week this years renewal would be easier than last

For all I know it could be a four runner shit show, but I doubt it. Race falls 38 days after Xmas runs so all who ran then will have had plenty of time between races. There's 84k up for grabs and with all due respect to Honeysuckle, why wouldn't most of them take her on here? She's headed last year by PM and only just beat Darver Star, and made much tougher work of it on this year on debut than last. Perfect time to have a pop.

I want the race to be full of decent horses so we find out how good she really is over 2m. Another shit field and small margin win wont tell us a whole lot

I'd imagine he's back up in case Honey's injured and the race cuts up.
And they may be wary of him not going so well at Cheltenham again having run in dublin.
      Thanks Quevega.
Yeah i was discussing this the other day with a mate and we were hoping they would skip Dublin and go straight to Cheltenham.

      • Bitten the bullet, despite not fancying her at all for the Champion Hurdle that 20/1 for Honeysuckle to win both races is just too big. Would actually be happy to lose the stake I have just put on for her still to end up in the Mares and if she does end up in the Champion Hurdle will lay off my stake. Job done.

Hills, National Hunt specials, I’m in deep on the Mares Hurdle, although cashed what I can but she is still my biggest winner in that race.

So you can have the Honeysuckle ICH & CH @ 20/1, or, throw Concertista in to win mares as well and its @ 50/1.

                • Agree with some of the comments on here... I really don’t think honey is quick enough over her hurdles to be the winner in March.

hope she gets beat and reverts to what I believe to be a better distance for her in the mares hurdle

There’s 12/1 available for Saldier in the ICH. Not sure I’d fancy him to beat all comers but I’d be fairly confident he’d make the frame.

Hopefully. It'll be a good test to show who the best of the Irish is.

                      • Just seen Honeysuckle opened up 13/8 !! She'll be odds on again surely. That won't last.

13/8 might not last but if entries hold why should she go off odds on? She went off 8/11 last year and won a rubbish renewal by 1/2 a length. This race looks way better so it looks priced up about right to me.

                          • I'd sooner take the 20/1 special than 13/8

I hope she gets tapped for toe... plugs on, looking like she needs 2m4f to be at her best

Maybe. Last year there were big doubts going into the race how she would handle going left handed, how she would perform over the minimum distance and she answered both of those questions. She has since beaten the best Mare Mullins has ever had (his words not mine) at Cheltenham and still remains unbeaten against all comers....so, for me, she's in a much better place this time around and will go off a lot shorter than 13/8.

                              • I don't really know why I'm not a fan of Honeysuckle's. I think it's just last year's Irish Champion hurdle where Petite Mouchoir and Darver Star were so close which dampens my enthusiasm for her. However, I do really hope she wins the IRH so that she goes to the CH(then loses to Epatante) which would leave Concertista with an easier chance of winning the MH!
