Obviously the Xmas hurdle which he won’t run in. Some time off and a run in the new year sometime between Jan/Feb.

I’ve been against him purely from the juvenile aspect from day 1. I just think it seems to take too much out the juveniles to then jump into open company.

Happens most years where the next year most do nothing and almost better having a season off and coming back as a 5 going on 6 year old.

Edit - although at 20/1 if he were to bolt up in his next run, will look a lot more appealing than the 5/1 he opened up for the race.
There’s that race at Haydock that Pentland Hills got beat in last year when he had traded at 1.1

      • “The main challengers at the minute from Ireland seem to be Saint Roi and Abacadbras, and at the moment I'd be convinced that Saint Roi is the main one.

He was the best horse in that race last time and you can understand why people still aren't convinced Abacadabras will get up the hill. Abacadabras was in a way handed the Supreme Novices last year with the carnage that happened and he was still beaten. He's a very good horse though, but still has a bit to prove. Saint Roi needs to step up as well, but he should go very close in this division.

We'll know a lot more after Christmas, but I'd be of the belief that Saint Roi is the one to take onwards.” - Keith Donoghue pretty cold on Abacadabras here

Yeah, but I still think both need to improve

main danger to Epatante is Saldier, but will he turn up and will he be continue on from where he left off

Yeah, worryingly PP/BF are a whole 4 points bigger than the next best price for Saldier to win the Ryanair hurdle, or whatever it’s called these days, make of that what you will. Also, they’re the shortest price in the market for Concertista.

            • If Saldier is genuinely the "main danger" to Epatante, she'd be 4/6 already.

He has potential, sure, but you can't just claim a horse is a main danger when they've not run in over 12 months..... if that was true, Buveur D'air is a freaking millions of miles the biggest danger as a dual CH winner.

The biggest dangers to Epatante currently are Saint Roi, Abacadabras and Aspire Tower!

Shishkin and Envoi Allen are more of a danger to her than Salider until he gets an entry at least

Goshen? Surprised by that to be honest.

What does everyone make of Floressa's entry in this? I had her marked for a handicap - likely the County. Not like Nicky to send a handicap horse to a race like this is it? Verdana Blue caused an upset a couple of years ago....

My view is that she isn't good enough for the Champion Hurdle but there is a 2m handicap hurdle on the 27th that Elusive Belle ran in before heading to the County which is where I was expecting to see Floressa. NH must think a fair bit of her for her to go here....?

                      • No chance to be honest. Nicky said she’s only in there because the owners really wanted to take their chance.

I thought as much. I will watch her run keeping with a view to the handicaps for the Fest.

Also they are probably hoping for black type by placing in a Grade 1

You;d have said the same about Verdana Blue i'm sure vs Buv! On the face of it she clearly hasn't much hope but strange things happen.

I'd say we'd all expect Epatante to canter round..
