If anyone thinking the latter makes it to being a Gold Cup contender .... big ask for a Kim Muir winner but an interesting angle

Can't all be related.......unless you are
    From Swindon if course.

Will they want Iroko winning today with the National campaign in mind?

I had a look at Its For Me BANC as well, but couldn't find anything in the pedigree to suggest he had any chance of staying. JackieMoon33 ComplyOrDie DenmanSacre (or anyone else who has any idea about pedigrees, tagged you three because I've seen you all write about pedigrees in the past)

Is there anything there that I've missed as a complete beginner on the pedigree side that gives hope to Its For Me over 3m? I assume they'll also want to avoid Impaire so Turners handicap/BANC could be likely for Its For Me

                  ….good point. Only thing I have is the comments from his 8L P2P win (obviously over 3m). Probably beat trees (Captain Cody fell);

’5l last at 1/2 way. slight mistake 2 out. Slight progress into 5th after 2 out, going well. 4th approaching the straight. Challenged leader at last and soon went on. Won going away.’

Not pedigree related but he won a ptp over 3m, understand the level is nowhere near Cheltenham Grade 1 chase but the distance is the distance. Form boosted by Caldwell Potter and he seems to be going up in trip too.

I wouldn't like to predict that one to be fair. His sire is fairly new on the scene but I like him and he's recently moved to Ireland so we'll hear more and more from him in the coming years. There wouldn't be a clear trend on the type of horse he produces yet but he's getting some sharper early types. The damsire in this case is Dom Alco who would normally impart stamina, but overall the pedigree is fairly weak.

His P2P win was really eye catching as you'd have never called him the winner for most of the contest. He achieved a very high rating and it was at a course you'd normally need to be a decent stayer to win at.

If the Turners was still around I'd have probably opted for that as he's shown both stamina and pace in his races. If I was considering him I'd likely need to see him run first, albeit you'd lose the price at that point.

                      • Not too sure on his pedigree. Damsire is Dom Alco, who sired Silviniaco Conti, Neptune's Collanges and Grands Crus. As damsire, Al Boum Photo is there. Stamina there.

Jeu St Eloi is relatively new though with horses in the UK so hard to say if they end up being more speed or stamina. Kargese, Inthewaterside and Blue King D'Oroux are his highest rated and 2 of them are very keen.

His dam hasn't produced much either.

I'd have thought he'd stay at 2m unless beaten. Possibly they could get 3 chases into him for the handicap but missing most of last season may mean he's a bit fragile and can they get the required 3 runs in before Cheltenham. If they've got IEP (assuming he takes to fences), would they even bother with Cheltenham and possibly go Fairyhouse for the grade 1 there. Suppose the same could be said for IEP - if he has had a setback, would Fairyhouse be his target over the trip he wants.

He was my favourite PTP horse 2 years ago going into his bumper campaign so I'm hoping he proves to be good over fences, but haven't backed him for any race as the Arkle looks hot and I'm not sure they'll go up to 3m.

Yeah I tend to look at PTP RPRs and I can't remember seeing many/any higher than 94, would mark him down as a horse with serious potential....

Officially it was a 94+ P2P rating which is very good (you also have ++ as well) but you will usually find higher most seasons. For example, there were six horses higher than 94 last season in 4 or 5yo races.

                              • The manner of his maiden hurdle win and his bumper win suggests he's a 2-miler to me. He was very keen throughout and won't get 3 miles unless he has learnt to settle. He may well have done, but I'd like to see it first. That being said 66-1 is too big and is worth a point with cash out in my opinion.

Whatever happens, Willie has a battalion of second string novices this year and he's going to have to run them against each other quite early on. Asian Master, Tullyhill, It's For Me, Ile Atlantique, Predators Gold, Mistergif, maybe even Western Diego. I'd suggest that whichever lose FTO may well be campaigned towards the Turners.
