    It was Ruby Walsh

Well, sort of. He thought it would go the other way round though.

I didn't realise he had an account on here?!

But, if Ballyburn goes for the Baring Bingham, which I think we can all appreciate is still an option, should the double for the pair be:

            93/1 (boosted) from 83/1

            Slade Steel - Supreme (20/1)
            Ballyburn - Baring Bingham (3/1)

I think Slade Steel's 2nd is perfectly creditable. Without Ballyburn in the field we're looking at Mystical Power to beat and Firefox....

If Slade Steel did win (and knowing he stays further certainly isn't a negative at Cheltenham), then Ballyburn would get absolutely smashed up for the next day, and be odds on.

I think it's well worth covering. The NRNB best price is 37/1 which may also appeal a bit for the more cautious.

The other way around is a best priced 16.88/1 or 12.5/1 NRNB

I'm glad I posted if only for you..... I even said where it was from, how dare anyone pass on a bit of thanks

                  • Spoke a few weeks back about the bumper Port Joulain won and the outside chance that Henry’s horse in second that day Good n Kind could also be useful

He might get beat today and not be good enough but a related double play n him today and goodnkind for supreme at 40-1 b365 (double works out around 112-1) small stakes isn’t the daftest bet.

far too long to go and very speculative for sure.

even if not interested in the double if he wins and wins well the 40-1 might linger.

Stab in dark for bit of fun really.

I'll stick my neck out and say Good N Kind looks like a proper stayer. I'd be shocked if he even turned up in a Supreme, let alone be competitive in it.

Had a good look at the breeding and would disagree on the stayer element
wouldn’t disagree on how good he is though as we’ve got little to go on.

                        • I’d have said the same about slade steel also and his breeding is poor and has been tested similarly
I think he might get a similar campaign and so just depends on if he’s as good over time. Think they like him though.

We have do have track and point to point evidence to go on. His bumper which we'd have all seen, he's definitely one paced on the run in and just stays on resolutely once the pace quickened turning for home. Port Joulain travelled all over him and put him away fairly easily.

He won his point from the front and made it a real stamina test on heavy ground at a galloping track. Only 4 of 9 finished that day due to the conditions. Even the commentator noted him as being "a proper winter stayer". Post race notes "He should ultimately develop into a nice prospect over distances in the region of two miles six furlongs to three miles on the racetrack"

There's not a whole lot to go on in terms of pedigree but I'd say Arctic Cosmos is getting more stayers that sharper horses in general.

Not a fan of using points to make decisions on potential future novice hurdles

Id be loathe to form too strong an opinion also on the one bumper run.

The race ran this time last year is a perfect example of why. Slade steel looked one paced vs ball burn and dancing city.

That’s fair. To each their own.
