If GDM gets re-routed, and I use the word 're-routed' because he is a short priced fav for the NHC and for good reason, then perhaps Ramillies could be the super sub? GDM is only 6 turning 7. There is every chance he has improved further and he wouldn't have much more to find on last years BANC effort to be very competitive. Ramillies is the 50/1 leg that is far more speculative, but I've had him in my sights for this race for a long long time. He's by Shantou, huge, 2 decent runs at Cheltenham and for that reason I think the double (B365) at 662/1 is well worth a few quid.
IMO - This has a real chance now.
It's still a decent price with PP.
      Nice one charlie.

        Cheers Q.
I read this and thought 'has something been said'. Has it?
I still like Ram for the NHC.
In a similar vein, I might add Gerri Columbe (NHC) and Chemical Energy (BANC) at 441/1 (not NRNB).
If Gerri goes NHC and Gordon doesn't want a clash, then CE was good enough at Cheltenham to run in the BANC was he not?
It's a wide open race and they could well be tempted, esp if GDM goes NHC and leaves the BANC more open.
I get people saying 'they backed CE at 66/1 and won't want to scupper those slips' but plenty of time to take 33/1 as consolation.
        Food for thought.

And in Mighty Potter for a proper related treble.

I just cannot really see any stronger challenger from Mullins stable for a grade 1 he's already ran in against potentially weak looking British rivals.
I've a feeling it might be the same outcome to be fair.
But Mullins may feel that GDM & Ramillies would both have a good chance in the 2 races, as opposed to 1 really good chance in the NH chase with GDM.

Depends on Dublin I suppose, and there is still a chance that Classic Getaway and or JDM could show a decent hand for the Brown's. but if they don't ?

            • Gordon’s on at 66/1 for the NHC - it’s just as weak a race this year compared to last year. Realistically only two or three horses are in with a shout: CE, GDM (if not going BANC) and Ramillies.

Feels like this is overthinking it a bit? Gordon could of course run both Gerri and CE in the NHC, but I’m not sure I can see him swapping CE and throwing those slips away - remember the smirk on his face...

I know they are different trainers and that, but any possibility that robcour wants to run his horses in different races? Best chances IMO if they were divided would be:
                Journey With Me- Turner's
                Gentlemansgame- Brown advisory
                Gerri Colombe- NHC

                • This idea has came about through trying to convince myself Halka du tabert’s cheltenham target isn’t the ballymore and i’ve managed to do the exact opposite.

So for her to possibly go to the ballymore, I thought the owner would need something to run in the mares novice, I found 1 possible candidate la prima donna. At first glance i thought “no way ,she ran in a 2m7f handicap at the galway festival lto.”

But a proper look through her form and actually her best run came over 2miles in a competitive handicap at fairyhouse, only just failing to get up. A very experienced novice hurdler, 8 hurdle runs, 3 of the last 4 in 16+ runner competitive handicaps. I expect that she’ll get an entry in the mares handicap at drf, probably win and become a mares novice hurdle contender.

By this time I expect HDT to have won the solerina, with elliott leaving the door open for a run in the ballymore, her price shrinks for both the mares novice and the ballymore.

I’ve asked bet 365 for prices on both this morning. They came back with 33/1 HDT , i’m still waiting for the LPD price. I requested LPD with william hill and they said 16/1.

So the related double idea is

                  Halka du tabert Ballymore 20/1

                  La prima donna MNH 16/1

                  NRMB double @356/1

                  • jrjr got me thinking....

167/1 - Gentlemansgame (NH Chase) / Gerri Colombe (BANC)
194/1 - Gerri Colombe (NH Chase) / Gentlemansgame (BANC)

I really like Gerri Colombe for whichever race he goes, I think he wins either if I had to pick right now, so I do like these .... especially the t'other running this weekend.

What about journey with me? Won't be going nh chase most likely but could definitely turn up in the banc.

Did this double also Kev around Christmas, definitely worth a stab at, especially with Gordon's comments at the time stating Gerri could be a NHC type horse.

Worth noting neither are Qualified for the NHC and time is running out. This weekends race isn't of qualifying standard for GMG.

For me this is a double to be done with the safety of NRNB, *or* on declaration in a qualifying race. Warwick this weekend would have been one, and there’s the Naas race at the end of January. Can’t think of too many other options off the top of my head for horses to get qualified?

Also, I remember we had this with En Beton last year - entered, declared and ran in the Naas race, only to jump like a sack of potatoes and fail to qualify…

                              • Sure its been mentioned before, but I've added the related double of GdM in the BANC and Ramilies in the NH Chase at 120/1.

The BANC is starting to look a fairly weak renewal and this would give the owners a decent shot at both races.
