I've done a Galvin (XC) and Conflated (GC) double at 1065/1. Gordon's comments re Galvin lately do rather imply there's a very genuine chance he goes to the XC. Which got me thinking he must have something else for the GC. charlie posted about Conflated this morning and I think that could be, potentially, the reason why. We know Gigginstown love a GC runner and Conflated has proven himself over 3m against the best winning an Irish GC and finishing a narrow 1l second to a rested Clan in the Betway Bowl. That's good form and he shouldn't be 40/1 in my view.

Personally don't think the big 'G' is quite ready yet for the naughty step that is the XCC ! He's got another Good Gold Cup campaign in him this season. He is one of the very best out there winning fresh and can't see today being any different. He'll win comfortably and then move onto his Down Royal target. I'll leave the XCC to Delta Work again next March and then perhaps my beloved Galvin can win it in 2024.

Feels like a nice angle to have covered - also thrown in France to win today (due to the French breeding line of both these horses - in true 'related' style)

Put a lighter version of this on myself earlier, with similar thought process. Gone with Ramillies to win today and GDM in the BANC. Much shorter price of course, but for good reason.

Charlie, if you do the GDM/Ramillies related double, surely it has to be EW at the current odds ? The place pays over 37/1.....not to be sniffed at and far more likely than both of them winning.

He is a Grade 1 horse.
3rd and 2nd in two very decent Grade 1 Novice Chases already and he's still only a 6yo.

Also a Grade 1 winning 5yo Novice Hurdler.

It's normal practice for many, to assume the likes of Gaelic Warrior and Gaillard du Mesnil might not reach those Grade 1 peaks when they are 2nd season novices - as they didn't win a single race of any sort in their debut season.

But, in their case, they are still young novices, in the top yard, and......

Gaelic was put away after Cheltenham and not declared in the Punchestown Grade 1 4yo Hurdle, specifically to try and see if he could be a top Novice hurdler (he had the Punchestown Grade 1 entry).

Gaillard went to the Irish National off a massive 154 rating as a maiden over fences.
(RW Fred did the same, but off 140 the year before).

He could've gone to the Punchestown Grade 1 over 3M and not the Irish National, but Willie ran Capodanno there instead, and he won that well (having been 4th in the BANC, behind Gaillard, in his previous race)

These decisions back in the spring had second season Grade 1 hopes in mind.
