Did that one last week, and threw in Honey and Shishkin as well. Came to 142/1 (obviously pre-Shishkin run). Worth it just in case.
Kevin Blake was mooting GDC staying at the mid trip on the Weighed In podcast today, which is just what I needed…
Haven’t listened yet but this is trademark Blake isn’t it - no doubt he went on to say “the best taking on the best” then moaned about mid range trips and bumpers..
With the market momentum seeming to be for Vauban at Leopardstown, and Pied Piper apparently an intended runner at Cheltenham this weekend… I’ve just added a 1pt related double of Vauban (DRF) and Pied Piper (TH). Got almost 54/1 with William Hill boost

A related double i like is Vauban for triumph and Gaelic Warrior for boodles.
A few months back there was a sudden spike in money for Gaelic Warrior for the triumph, out of nowhere. Presumably this was stable money , and presumably this was because they thought he was pretty good.
Both Vauban and Gaelic Warrior are owned by Rich Ricci trained by Mullins.
Im taking a punt that the triumph was the plan for Gaelic Warrior, however Vauban has overtaken him as the stable/owners number 1 for that race. Sustained money in recent days for GW for the Boodles would indicate that they are going to be split, and im hoping that the early seasons signs that he was very good prove to be true. Best priced 71/1 with coral/ladbrokes
Can't fathom this gamble on GW for the Fred Winter. Was it the UTA guys that tipped him up ?? Mullins record in that race is like a horror story. I always steer clear of Willie's in that race.

Aye, he's getting the kind of attention in the betting that the handicapper must pick up as well! The kind of price I'd happily let him win at without backing, and still think I'd made the right decision.

Horror story is probably a little bit harsh. He finished 2nd in it last season with Saint Sam, he had no runner the season before, Ciel De Neige finished 3rd the year before that, and that's as far as I can be bothered to look right now. Recent seasons have been promising.
It's the whole Gold Cup scenario all over again. He hadn't won a GC until Al Boum Photo popped up.
It's only a matter of time, IMO, before he wins the Boodles.
It's a graveyard for favourites as well from my memory. Not a race I get involved in until the week and never had any success then either in view of some of the rags that have won. Horrible race for punters unless you are on the winner that is !

The sustained money for Vauban for me has been telling too - Ricci over the years has always had the Supreme hot pot, doesn’t have as many runners in the Triumph (or ones that are fancied) which I thought was interesting too. He’s been consistently backed down from 33s the past couple of weeks into 6s in some places now despite having run only once prior to the movement. He wins at the DRF & he’ll be clear fav. There’s nothing laid on the Exchanges for him either so someone’s got money down somewhere on him. That double could well end up quite appealing…
