    • I have enough bets with Hollow Games so pre-Down Royal I placed a treble of Mighty Potter 40/1, American Mike 16/1 and Fil Dor 33/1.

      • I'm another and I made a book.

I was amazed at the time how many people seem to have backed him when he went off at 25/1.

As discussed in my diaries over the years that Cheltenham was the only one I've made a loss on, and is my motivation to focus on singles and get good returns, cos I'll always remember having it on in the office, having got every on Melon at big prices, thinking got the Mullins Supreme horse, job done, and us all sitting in silence as this yoke I'd never even heard of came cantering through. That was the race that made me think "If I'm going to be involved in this sport, I should probably take it a tad more seriously"

          • That Supreme was carnage for me. I made a complete dogs dinner of it, and when horses were out and switched targets I just couldn't recover. It became a pure damage limitation race. I got myself into what I thought was the best possible position I could to limit losses, and then Labaik that I couldn't have backed with stolen money, went and hosed up.

The sinking feeling started before the last, and when he crossed the line I'd never felt so flat after a Supreme, and haven't since since.

            • Did many people back Summerville Boy?

That was the first and only time I backed the supreme winner, and only backed when they were at the post.

Thought he would have gone on to greater things after but career petered out really

I was on Paloma Blue that day, but backed Summerville Boy with the Sky offer on the supreme. Amazing he won really after those two blunders.

I was a Kalashnikov fan boy, but due to the ground I threw one of the Supreme offer bets at it (I think Coral did ?25 that year? Could be mistaken), but deffo didn't back it until the morning of the race

I was torn between summerville boy and first flow for the free bets on the day, obviously i chose the wrong one !

I also chose first flow because of the desperate ground

                        • Had an each way play on a sort-of related double. The same related double came good last year albeit different race Allaho and Minella coming from the BANC.

                          Envoi Allen Ryanair
                          Chantry House Gold Cup
                          126/1

I think most of us would agree had EA been on his ‘A game’ he probably would have won with Chantry house chasing him home. They could both end up in the GC both in the Ryanair but at the price worth a small play imo.

I backed him because he beat kalashnikov easily in the tolworth

I was baffled that he was double the price of kalashnikov

I swear William Hill did some crazy offer that year and paid double your winnings on the winner of the supreme

I had Kalashnikov at quite a nice price after his hurdle debut at wetherby. Picked Summerville Boy for my Skybet offer as a saver, which worked out quite nicely.

                              • Given how popular Chantry House is, could double him at 103/1 with Fusil Raffles in the 1.50 at Cheltenham tomorrow.
