  • If anyone's still going at this point in the week, Dylan Thomas EW double:
    • Milkwood in the County Hurdle 33/1,
    • Ahoy Senor Gold Cup 20/1
Prices with bet365, paying 6 places and 4 places.

    Odds 713/1.

Both horses have good festival form, I can see them hitting the frame.

            • As Many have already ascertained, Punting antepost for next season looks tricky because of Constitution Hill.

The more solid races usually good for betting early in are clouded (arkle, Champion hurdle and champion chase), and the Gold cup looks a formality for the current champion.

I suppose the RSA can be looked at with one or two likely types.

I do think though that if he goes Chasing the Champion hurdle is a three horse race.

State Man, Marine Nationale and Impaire et Passe.
All likely to stay hurdling if he doesn't.

Maybe one would go novice chasing as they could always avoid him if he actually keeps to novice company. (by going turners or arkle accordingly)

I can leave out the juveniles as Champion hurdle prospects for now and Vauban has shown no improvement as yet, although Lossiemouth could be a player with her allowance.

Anyway, the only way to potentially play it IMO is with related doubles - risky as he may stay hurdling and not run in the Champion Chase, but combining Marine & IEP with Constitution Hill in the Champion Chase is worth a small interest for me.
Not one for doubles this far out but it's one of those that as soon as an announcement is made, I've either done my dough or the chances have at least halved.

If he goes chasing I expect the Champion Chase is the strongest option by far, with a prep in open company in Feb.
Only Energumene to beat really and he'll be 10 by then and rated a good few pounds inferior.

I am mainly doing this bet so I can get really annoyed when they run in the arkle at 1/12 on.

              • Energumene & El Fabiolo...

Anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?

willie like to split them, maybe, one in the Champion, one on the Ryanair..

                • It’s certainly possible. (And something that I’ve covered).
The fly in the ointment, is Allaho (and then possibly Sir Gerhard & Appreciate It)

A distinct possibility if The Hill goes CC. El Fabiolo to Ryanair of course.

Can't have any of those 3. Envoi again for me. He was a very easy winner this year. Could be called the winner a fair way out. Rachel had so much horse under her and could have pressed button at any time. Stage Star the danger.

You couldn’t have the 2 time winner that’s only lost his crown through injury? What am I missing. He’s the same age as Envoi as well. Would you not view it as a very poor Ryanair this year Lobos?

Think we all said as much pre race and the result certainly didn’t change my opinion. Shishkin hit every fence and got to within a couple of lengths or so of Envoi. I’d have Allaho miles clear of that!

Do we know how serious the internal bleeding was? It sounds a nasty injury. Id not have the foggiest re impact on his future ability or if it effects how hard they can push him.

The Allaho ailment sounded very serious to me and something I've not heard of before so that would be a big worry . I thought Shishkin was really flattered how close he got as Envoi could have gone a lot earlier and put many lengths between him and Hendos horse .

                            • Aye I understand that, doubts regarding Allaho because of what has happened.

Obviously doesn’t help antepost but if he came back and proved his ability remained he’s way ahead of Envoi imo.

I suspect Cheveley Park will split their 4 runners evenly between the GC and Ryanair. If I were to hazed a guess, I would imagine APT and Envoi will go Gold Cup and Allaho and Sir Gerhard will go Ryanair. I can’t see them having three in one race.
