  • Wakool being very well backed as expected. Opened 5/1 now into 2/1. Here's hoping he does the business today

Hmmmm, quite disappointed with them both there….maybe they bumped into a Charles Byrnes special

      • Absolutely gutted Wakool hasn't won there. He'll get into the final and ran with credit tho.

          • Wakool jockey didn’t want to win there it seemed to me, should go up a few lbs still and be safe to get in.

Perils of betting in a Pertemps qualifier I suppose. Impossible to know which ones want to actually win and which want to run with credit but aren't arsed with finishing first. Didn't smack of the latter, but its always in the back of your mind.

              • As the trends go, the winner of these rarely win the main event.

                • DDP reduced 1 pound by the handicapper. I don't think the British will be offering the same!

Absolutely no chance But I still think he's the one for this, regardless of what the UK handicapper does

So if he gets a hike by UK handicapper and wins, what does that say about the Irish handicapper ?

Irish handicapper is always behind. Look at some of the raises the UK handicapper has given some of the Irish horses when they've been entered this season.

They are also 'campaigned' by their trainers to get the weight off prior to the festival. If the Irish handicapper is only seeing average runs at best he has to take action. Which says more about the trainers than the actual handicapper, IMO. But we've known about this for a fair while on here.

                        • Just added one for the pertemps.

                          Brorson 33/1 hills. Nrnb

Already had two course runs at 2m earlier in season but then stepped up to 2 1/2 miles then 3m since and won twice. Qualified for this race at Musselburgh last Sunday back in third behind The Big galloper. Rated 130. Got race experience in a big field as well. Worth a punt

Definite NRNB needed as he’s unlikely to make the cut off 130 unless they run again.

If he's balloted out it would be money back anyway

You’re right, but is there ever a scenario where trainers don’t declare at 5 day stage if it looks like their horse has no chance of getting in ?
You’d imagine they would pay the extra dec fee knowing they’ll get it all back…
