I'll happily eat humble pie and tip my hat to you Splinter if the following prediction is incorrect, but I think Wakool will smash Brorson into next week.

I’ll get the fancy dishes out for it Charlie

Looks a nice little race, let’s see how it goes down!

It does. Always hard to know what actually wants to win a Pertemps qualifier though! You could end up with a beaten 2nd and he happier with than outcome than me having the winner!

Won LTO off a mark of 122 and races on Sunday off a mark of 131. The handicapper could of course catch up with him, but he made a complete mockery of his last 10lbs rise and won doing handstands. I'm expecting him to win on Sunday, go up to 138+ (nine from the last eleven rated at least 138) and half in price. You're siding with David rather than Goliath backing this fella as he's trained by Nick Alexander up in Scotland, but, he's a lovely big grey that clearly loves his racing over 3m, has a sound jumping technique and does everything effortlessly. Goes on all sorts of ground and if he wins on Sunday then his form over 3m will read 131111.

                • Thoughts on Dunboyne getting into this? Does he have too much to do today to get the right mark?

2nd or 3rd would be perfect I think, should get him the extra couple of pounds he needs to guarantee himself a run.

Let’s hope for a nice run then Stormez! Strange cheering a horse to lose, but needs must!

                      • For the last 11 years, Only once has gordon gave a horse another run after qualifying for the race(who actually contested the race). That was Russian War back in 2012 and he finished down the field. So Dunboyne running again today would be a negative for me

But doesn't Dunboyne have to show a higher level of form to get a mark to get into the race, hence a strong showing today. Gordon has no option but to run him now.

Yea of course, these stats are never black or white. But its at least something to add into the mix. Gordon is meticulous however, he plots these handicaps way in advance and based on this stat, its unusual for him to be having to run a horse again after qualification because of a lowly mark. It could be a case of confirmation bias from me too haha

                            • FWIW - Dunboyne's UK mark of 134 would get him into the last 3 renewals of the race.

However, another couple of lbs won't hurt him

                              • If you've backed Dunboyne for the Pertemps, and he wins today, how will you feel if you've not backed him today?

I don't know the owners and their intentions but the pt is so big that, if they value that more than a festival winner... he could win today and still shorten for the pertemps despite that making his chance worse.

If you lose your money that, can claim is a masterplan and the pertemps dream lives on.
