For the unrestricted handicaps the winners almost need to be G1 standard, many of them do go onto that level, Saint Roi, Belfast Banter etc.
I think Spectre made the point a few days ago that you need to be a stone in hand...

I get the 'if you're not in, you cant win' angle too, incase it cuts up but with the Festival these days, there aren't as much 'day out' runners as you would have seen in Festivals gone past, so id be thinking (hoping) he could have more than a few pounds in hand.
Until he proves different I think I’d have to give Elliott horses greater consideration, bit that’s just a personal approach…

I've pulled the trigger on Spiritofthegames today.
Backed him yesterday and thought he ran a very decent race under an inexperienced pilot, got a bit caught for toe approaching two out and ballooned the last before staying on really well to finish about 6l third.
Since finishing 4th in his qualifier he's been dropped a staggering 10lb, his New Years Day run I watched closely and had that down as a handicap game, took it up too early and stuck to the softer ground on the inside rail and was always going to tire, Harry literally dropped hands for the final two furlongs and no questions got asked and the handicapper responded with a 6lb drop, the fact Skelton has kept him over fences since is telling for me.
Skelton for me has given him a terrific chance of picking up a competitive hurdle race, his run yesterday proved he still has plenty of ability, I have no idea if this is the target but they'd be foolish not to come here off that mark, that said 129 may not get him and he ends up taking that mark to Aintree but with some NRNB about these days he's a risk free play.
Not sure what the best NRNB price is but I have a very accommodating friend who has grabbed me some 25/1 which I'm more than happy with...

Fairly speculative fancy in Didtheyleaveuoutto for this one. Had a couple of nice runs at the start of the season before disappointing at Hayduck. Is a highly tried horse but unexposed at 3m and hails from the family of Denman.
Was highly touted in his early days in bumpers and his first few hurdle starts. Just hoping that last run was down to a busy few runs (had also had a flat campaign) and not that he isn’t a dour stayer. His runs at Chepstow and Newbury he was hitting the line full of running, so hoping running fresh at the festival and better ground will do the trick. Has a rating of 134 so could sneak in hopefully

A few Irish entries in Sundays qualifier at Musselburgh.
Charlie Byrnes enters The Big Galloper
JOB enters Top Moon
John McConnell enters AB third placed Streets of Doyen. He was so bad it was hard to be true at Worcester and then refused at Cheltenham LTO, I'm interested to see how this one goes.

McConnell has also entered Go Another One who has been chasing this season.
Just Exeter, Haydock and Chepstow after this to see if Elliott wants to qualify another horse.

I've added Wakool @ 25/1 NRNB before he runs in the qualifier at Musselburgh. Won on debut off a mark of 108. Pissed in after that off a mark of 112. Won LTO off a mark of 122 and races on Sunday off a mark of 131. The handicapper could of course catch up with him, but he made a complete mockery of his last 10lbs rise and won doing handstands. I'm expecting him to win on Sunday, go up to 138+ (nine from the last eleven rated at least 138) and half in price. You're siding with David rather than Goliath backing this fella as he's trained by Nick Alexander up in Scotland, but, he's a lovely big grey that clearly loves his racing over 3m, has a sound jumping technique and does everything effortlessly. Goes on all sorts of ground and if he wins on Sunday then his form over 3m will read 131111.

A good find Charlie in Wakool and I have joined you NRNB with 5 places. For me I am looking for just a very good run and a close finish 2nd at the weekend to achieve a rise of around 4lb. A rating of 135 should see him get in the race and the low weights in the final do well. The trainer on record saying he likes a low weight in better races, perfect, also said after the last win the race this weekend is the plan and if he wins or runs well enough to get in the final that is where they will go. If not a nice race a Kelso third weekend of March. So I see a plan and with a good run at the weekend we could have a runner in the final with a serious chance. If not money back.
