It just seems big enough, even though he has 2 handicap entries.
I'm not sure Gordon will send one of his bigger hopes to Sandown, as the owners and most of Ireland will be looking at Dublin, but you never know. Especially if the ground is very different.
I'm on the same boat with that thought Quevega

If he did get declared for Sandown for similar money in this "pop-up" Pertemps Final qualification thrown in then it would be more than a big hint, where he wants to run him in March.

Funnily enough, before Maxxum and Eric Bloodaxe qualified at Christmas, and Favori won the Limerick Grade 2, I was convinced that Favori DC could be the best Pertemps Final hope Gordon had

Bizarre, after a strong Alb.Bartlett marker was thrown down by that win, to consider running in a Pertemps Final with him, or even a Pipe.

Particularly when youve already qualified Maxxum, Eric B and Salvador Ziggy.

My head says, he's not running at Sandown and that its just a mark check, to be thought through after he runs at the DRF, probably in the 3M Hcap that he likes to use for an M.Pipe prep.

If he won that Hcap he would be an Alb.Bart horse

If he was beaten, but not far, possibly an M.Pipe horse.

      Yeah, I agree.
He may as well have a free hit with favori in dublin or sandown.

We know Salvador is already rated 147 in the UK.
Maxxum is going to be similar or higher you'd imagine.

So the best rated animal for a handicap is actually Favori, based on his Irish mark. And arguably has the better form. I hope he gets around the 142 mark in the UK and then runs in the handicap at dublin and finishes top 3. Then he should be bartlett bound if coming over.

Eric Bloodaxe 143 and FDC 141.

That Maxxum mark is very very fair, I know plenty are on at lovely double up prices but Sky 9/2 NRNB won’t last the day.

          • 141 for FDC seems like a complete gift. Shame you can't back til they've qualified.

            • If you owned Salvador Ziggy. you'd have a go in the bartlett surely.

Someone may price him up, but I doubt he'll come over to qualify anyway (famous last words)

He’s not even in it is he, knew that fate with no graded entry at DRF but he can’t be better hcapped than his stable mate.

Yeah, my bad, I thought he had a bartlett entry.

Makes it even worse with Max getting 145

He will go the Pipe if saving for a cap I would have thought.

I was hoping he'd do this. But not declared at DRF worries me a bit (as an AB backer). It's either:

                          1) Run at Sandown, win the big pot and destroy his mark, on to the AB (please Jesus, let it be this one);
                          2) Run at Sandown finish 3rd, go to the Pertemps; or
                          3) Don't run before the festival and go to the Pipe.

Seems very doubtful if they go to the effort of qualifying him for the pertemps

Can see 3 card brag being one of Gordon's pipe horses

Irish mark of 135 so will get in unless the UK handicapper goes bonkers

I think he could also go straight to the festival in the bartlett as well to be fair.
depends on the marks given to his other entries in the pipe.
and the exchange looks weak enough to the point where it's probably not decided.
I've covered for the pipe so don't want him qualifying for the pertemps for sure.

True, but unlikely in my view. Isn't there a stat about most Pipe winners being rated 141-145? Perfect.
