  • May Forum Yankee for 2021

Ok so my plan for this one is for it to be a ‘bankers yankee’. Like last year for a while we had one that was offering just over 3 time’s the profit for cashout on it for most of the season before the injuries eventually came.

I’d propose this to be a yankee for the most likely winners instead of the usual format of looking for the best value horses.

    So horses like:
    Shishkin
    Envoi Allen
    Easysland
    Chacun Pour Soi
    Epatante
    Goshen
    Honeysuckle
    Benie Des Dieux
    Al Boum Photo

Most likely to be 4 from those 9..

The Shishkin and Envoi double is very popular on here so finding two more to go with those for one month only seems fair.

Assuming connections are committed to the code Easysland’s rout suggests he is considerably better than anything in the cross country division and should dominate for some time.
Whether 7/4 represents any value is debatable but on all known form should he make March with the same prep/form he is likely to be a 4/6 shot...

Goshen isn’t a banker and BDD could run anywhere.
      I’d go for
      Shishkin
      Envoi Allen
      Easysland
      Al boum photo or honeysuckle

KS - do you not feel Honeysuckle’s target is questionable too ?
Wasn’t she champion hurdle bound up to the week before racing this year ?

I guess so to a lesser extent, I expect it will be the mares hurdle again unless they decide to go chasing in which case it will be the new mares chase. I don’t see her running in the champion hurdle at all, they would have run her there this year if so.

Al boum photo it is then!

From your shortlist my picks would be:
Shishkin - assuming he goes Novice Chasing.
Envoi Allen - assuming the Marsh is the correct target.
Easysland - would be the most likely winner this far out.
Al Boum Photo - dual Gold Cup winner so impossible to not have him in the list.

            Next best:
            Epatante - very, very solid
Honeysuckle - target too much in doubt?
Benie Des Dieux - For the Mares Hurdle, but target and opposition not certain.

            Would object to:
Goshen - being aimed at a flat target isn't and he shouldn't be fav in the market so definitely not a banker.
Chacun Pour Soi - too injury prone to be an ante post selection.

              Envoi Allen - Marsh
              Shishkin - Arkle
              Eptante - CH
              ABP - GC

Would connections of Easyland be tempted by the Gold cup? (that is a question and not a statement) - i haven't heard anything to say they would - but he was such an impressive winner of the cross country I wonder if it would be considered if Champ was to get injured or not improve from a novice (plenty don't) Would be a sickner to be geting involved at 7/4 for the cross country this far out only for him not to turn up.

                  Nah?

Owner has Champ for the Gold Cup.

Ain't broke, won't try fix it.

He likes the Cross Country race as well doesn't he.... Easysland is a potential multiple festival winner in waiting.

The price now is rubbish but he's going to be favourite for the race if he is fit.

He does indeed - JP's record in the race is absolutely cracking - headsontheground, grade champetre, spot the difference, josie's order - there are probably more!

Cross country next season then Gold cup following year when he’s 8 and in his prime. Unusual route for a Gold Cup contender but I think he has the class.

Like that one, as you have said just below only change I would make is epatante for easysland purely for a bit more value.

Think we are dismissing Tiger Roll far too easily here when talking of Easysland. Yes, he was impressive but the Tiger didn’t have an ideal prep in comparison to previous years, the ground was against him and he noticeably tired from the last which to my mind just showed he was short of top fitness (though I appreciate Keith did not go after him).

Whilst I like Easysland alot and one of the two will win it I would caw canny on Easysland being a cert.

Tiger roll will have 1 target next season and it’s not at Cheltenham
