I can see this ending with the Cesarewitch.
As he is a colt, not a gelding, it would be interesting to see what path they might take through to the seasons end."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

Has Farouk D'Alene been mentioned much on here?
Doing a bit of work back through last seasons bumpers, and despite being there I didn't really realise how impressive he was at Down Royal! The 2nd horse won over hurdles during the week with plenty in hand too. His 2nd run was a real gutsy and nice attitude victory in a good field with Fire Attack in 2nd. He pissed up in a PTP 2019 too. He looks a very similar profile to Fury Road to me - I think he will be a real top horse in the longer trips this season .. possibly starting in the 2m6f maiden at Down Royal festival - I like him for the Albert Bartlett and he's genuinely a 33/1 and 40s chance .. Unibet have 50's however.
Thoughts?

Farouk D’alene - Ballymore Novices Hurdle
The second of my novice hurdlers who did not run at the festival and owned by Gigginstown. This time I have one from the PTP scene who is two from two in bumpers this season. He started off with a facile victory on debut beating a piss poor field, but he could not have done it any easier. He then stepped up into a better race at Naas and won again, this time showing a willing attitude and battling qualities. He looks to have a blend of speed and stamina with breeding and post-race comments suggesting an intermediate trip is where his short-term future lies. I like to see battling qualities in bumper horses going hurdling and this guy fought back after being headed to beat a decent sort in Fire Attack who was getting 3lbs. This race also has a nice roll of honour with previous winners including: Carefully Selected, Killultagh Vic and Outlander.

Like you though, having the missed bumpers causes greater reluctance to get heavily involved (although I feel I am involved plenty already, but would like to add more). We do not know the exact level of form he is bringing to the party. But based on his defeat of Coqolino, you'd say it was likely to be of a high standard. Coqolino himself was a very decent winner of his PTP, and the horse he beat in that PTP has won as he liked in his only NHF start since then.
Overall the limited form we do have, coupled with ratings that have been assigned, would give high hopes of BO becoming one of the main players in the novice hurdle division next season.
Recency bias would have you possibly feel that BO would go down the Shishkin route, being by Sholokov, but the Dam side of things would show up a more stamina laden prospect, and the Ballymore looks the absolute obvious race to me. I would be about 90% sure this is where he would end up, if showing up to be good enough of course. Only reason I am holding out cashing my Supreme bet on him is because I can only see the price going one way early on in the season, so may be able to make a few pennies on that also.
I am with you on Farouk D'Alene too. A very likeable prospect also.

Just to repeat an earlier warning about Bob Olinger. He is the 5th progeny of Zenaide to make the track and most (possibly all) of the others have had a physical problem before the end of their second season. None have had more than 6 runs under rules.

Insult was fatally injured during a race (surely can happen to any horse?). Six Gun Serenade ran the other day and is still in training, likely to overtake the 6 runs under rules in the coming weeks.
I assume you are talking about the two WPM/Supreme Racing Club horses.
Obviously you have the information regarding the two WPM horses, and valuable information it is.
Any idea what the injuries to Darling Carlotta & Myska were? Were they fatal? Or did they just end up retired for breeding purposes?Last edited by ComplyOrDie; 3 September 2020, 11:13 AM.

There is a trend though CoD.
Fatalities, whilst always sad, can be either unfortunate or they can be due to an underlying condition that contributed to an error/fall, genetic weakness etc.
I'm one of the masses in here that has Bob Ollinger in the book but for anyone considering him now or building a series of multiples around him should take note, it's not a big red flag but it should be a consideration...

Insult was fatally injured on course but he didn't fall so seemingly 'went wrong' during the race.
Daring Carlotta was before my time but I'm assuming she was leased by Supreme. Giving that she won 3 bumpers before finishing 3rd in a listed bumper in her final race, it would be most unlikely that she was retired unless something was amiss. She's not listed as having died but neither are there any progeny made the track as yet.
Myska, I had a share and she was leased from the breeder. She was very good and considered to be close to Limini in the pecking order. She missed Cheltenham because she wasn't right and then made a noise when disappointing at Fairyhouse and Punchestown. Being leased, it made no sense for us to pay for the operation that might (and only might) have fixed the problem and she'd already got the black type to satisfy the breeder who took her back.
Her first daughter by Walk In The Park was bought in for 52k at the recent Tatts Derby Sale.

Be interesting to hear what happened with the two mares. As neither of the geldings were retired because of injury. As noted, one was fatally injured, the other is still running. Not including Bob Olinger of course.
Appreciate the concern though, and will certainly be in the back of my mind now
