Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

I don't think its a plot either but I still expect that he'll be over further come the business end of the season.

      • Anyone tempted my Bravemansgame after today? Got his head in front easily today but I'm still thinking he's a stereotypical Nicholls horse for next season.

          Yep, very possible.

          • Interesting Fiston Des Issards is entered in a hurdle at Navan. Gordon originally said he'd be kept to bumpers this season.

Not personally on Bravemansgame (not often I can say that with the number I have in my diary ) - but I did have a nibble on Soaring Glory who’s form was franked with Bravemansgame today.

Thats a fair point. I just think they haven't been that impressive in victory. I'd have expected to see some big margin victories if the form was that good. But I do take your point.

Well the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 10th, 13th, 14th and 22nd have all come out and won so far, so i would say it may be decent
Id say that is proof if ever you needed it , and the best two still to come out. Cant remember a champion bumper whereby so many came out following season and won so many races early doors , staggering.

We wait with baited breathe Ferny and Appreciate It , follow that.

In the nineties and noughties I made money from backing blind any champion bumper runner going for a maiden hurdle. I didn't take it further in graded races unless they looked real good. In the last decade the bookies caught on. So every year bumper horses win maiden hurdles. It is too early to consider 2020 a vintage year

I used to do similar. I'd back the top 10 from the Champion Bumper in their first two runs, and it was a license to print money. But as you say the bookies caught on and it became harder to make money. Also in recent seasons very few horses from the Champion Bumper have gone on to be decent in actual fact the record of runners 'going on' from the Champion Bumper was downright terrible at one point. Now the trend seems to have reversed back again though, and over the last couple of years we've had two really good renewals.

                      • On Ballyadam - "I think he’s a nice horse, he stays and has speed, everything you want. He’s not the biggest in the world and hurdling could be his game with the Royal Bond likely to be next. I think two miles will be his trip for now."

I think for me, that is enough to be confident that he won't blindly follow Envoi Allen's path to the Ballymore.

People can take it how they like of course, and Gordon shouldn't be taken as gospel by any stretch.

Depends how you take the interpretation of the "for now" I would be more confident if it said this season or something along those lines. Could step up after Royal Bond! Maybe I'm thinking too cautiously!

"For now" means until he's beaten, surely?

If he's beaten, I have no interest in him for the Ballymore anyway, which I posted about previously (probably in this thread)

I wish he committed to the season, but Gordon is never going to give himself the grief of definitively stating anything now - there is literally no incentive to do so.

I hope you're right. Just the way I first viewed it. But can see it from your point if view and as I say hope you're right
