Supreme/Ballymore/Albert Bartlett - Novice Hurdles 2021

I was on the fence about Flinteur Sacre but I going to try and get him onboard at 16’s, probably in a roll up this weekend. Being a hype horse he only has to win his debut over hurdles and he’ll be halved in price and probably won’t go back out. I missed out of Epatante last season after ignoring Henderson & Geraghty’s praise and belief after she bombed in the MNH in 2019 and look how she turned out. There is an element of blowing smoke up JP’s arse because the horse cost a lot of money but whilst blood relations are similar they are not always the same. Look at me and my brother, he’s an erratic, deluded drunken fool and I’m the complete opposite

Like Chantry House he will probably place at best but I’d rather have him covered in a small stake roll up than be trying kick my own arse in January that I didn’t back him.

Morley Street and Granville Again both won the Champion Hurdle but I agree that it's vanishingly unlikely that Flinteur Sacre is as good as Sprinter.

The question isnt 'is he as good as his brother' its 'can he win a supreme'

I mean no one thinks labaik or summerville boy are as good as sprinter. It is possible that they could be completely different types of horses, and flinteur could win a supreme without being anywhere near as could as sprinter.

I get that most people have been alerted to this horse because of his name, and therefore comparisons are unavoidable, and with no actual form to base assumptions on all we have to go on is connections comments (which are overwhelmingly positive). Its also true that his price is based on his name and his family, so he's probably not value at the minute. That still doesnt mean he cant win even if he is nowhere near as good as Sprinter, surely just treat him the same as any horse who hasnt been out yet and is subject to glowing praise from connections (ballyadam, bob ollinger etc.)

What odds were Labaik and Summerville Boy though...

It is mainy a price thing... he's stupidly short at this point. It isn't impossible he can win it, it's just highly improbable and at 16/1, I can't entertain him.

Just taken a look at Gordon's novice hurdle entries at Down Royal. It seems strange that Fantasio D'alene was nominated as the AB horse and Farouk D'alene as the Ballymore, yet their entries would suggest the opposite. It could be me putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 14.748, but If Farouk was the Ballymore horse, he'd be more likely to handle a drop to 2m than the Fantasio who is the AB candidate.

Does anyone think Sir Gerhard could go straight over hurdles after his bumper this weekend? Could end up in the Ballymore with Ballyadam going Supreme?

I would not say its a foregone conclusion but my 2+2 calculation is now closer to 4 than it was before

If Fantasio D'alene is declared over 2m on Saturday then I'd be more confident then.

As it stands I think there are probably 7+ Gigginstown horses that could be Martin Pipe possibilities, though I'd expect some to start showing their class at Down Royal for starters, and you can probably tick them off one by one, as they'll likely start getting ratings too high for the MP. If you're looking specifically at Gordon Elliott trained Gigginstown horses then you still have at least 5, the two you mention, Farouk D'Alene, Grangeclare Native and Ragnor Lodbrok, off the top of my head.

Edit: Favori De Champdou is another also for GE/Giggs.

Intermediate to Staying trips myself. I think Kevin Blake likes him though and said to ignore the Leopardstown run, which would be a pretty obvious statement based on his very two good wins prior to that run anyway.

Think I’ll need to get Farouk onside for the Albert Bartlett just to be safe.

He showed good battling qualities to beat Fire Attack in his second bumper run at Naas. I really like him and hope he’ll take too order in the staying novice hurdle races.

A point, 2 flat races and potentially 3 runs over hurdles prior to Cheltenham would give him a battle hardened quality for the AB I suppose. He didn’t look short of a bit of pace as well so time will tell which route they go down.

He obviously has to be good enough as well

No, he didn't mention any trip.

Just that he liked him and Joseph liked the others too, and that they had a good crop of bumper horses so they hope 1 or 2 turn out decent.
