Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

  • Elliott said, “He was a bit rusty but it’s good to have him back. He hadn’t any fast work done and was half sleepy going around there.

“It probably wasn’t the ideal track for him but we have to start somewhere.

“He had two knee injuries and hopefully he’ll be ok in the morning after that. It’s baby steps and we might look at something in Listowel for him.”

[We] now get a risk-free look at him next time. Cashout value is now 100% for everybody as he's been clipped in and if he improves, great. If he doesn't, at worst he'll drift to the price he was and you can get out easily enough.

I appreciate you're saying "at the moment", but I'm surprised you haven't got on board RC! I feel lonely without you backing me up haha
Haha...as a strategy as you know what you've done is right up my street. I think I can just about get over a horse that was injured for one season, see Topofthegame, but one that has missed two seasons is too much for me

Yeah fair enough. My gut is that he won't be as good as he was hyped up to be... but due to his profile he's a definite shortener. 25/1 was too short to start with given his absence, but hopefully I'm wrong and he ends up in one of the novice hurdles at least

        • Malone Road was either not race fit at all or has regressed fairly substantially. Wouldn’t be getting involved antepost based on that showing today!

          • Didn't see the race, completely forgot he was running to be honest. The writeup says 'soon led, pressed at 4th, travelled well and 2 lengths clear 2 out, asserted before last, kept on well' won by 9.5lengths. Was it not actually as good as that sounds then?

            • Just watched Malone Roads performance and see absolutely nothing negative about it tbh.

It is a price thing, though I still think he will be Ballymore bound and with that the 33/1 still on offer seems rather large now we know he retains ability and the knee injury hasn't ruined him.

Of course, he's beat very little there, but he's done it plenty easy enough (as he should) in the end.

              • ....given Malone Road is now a best priced 16-1 (as low as 12-1 with PP) for the Supreme, the 16-1 in Sky’s any race market seems an oversight.

I think the thing I would say is that he won easily and everyone can agree there was room for improvement. you would expect his jumping to improve with experience and he looked a strong horse physically compared to others in that race. for me its enough to keep interested

Come on Lobos, admit you were wrong

He's 66/1 now, after seeing the debut.

Do you think he's got a better chance NOW than when YOU backed him?

Yeah, why not ? He won as I would have expected him to after 2 years off. They'll find another nice race for him in the next few weeks then up him in class. Expecting further improvement next time. I still expect him to be split up from Ferney and Ballyadam. We'll see how all 3 get on and have a conversation then. It's like buying a lottery ticket with him. Small outlay for potential big profit and a bit of fun along the way. What's not to like ? I've got him on board for Supreme as well so I have a plan b. Lol !

                            • A thought occurs to me with Malone Road given the discussion we've been having on the Arkle thread.

A bit of a longshot perhaps, but I wonder whether they are going to get a couple of soft summer hurdle races in with him for experience, let him down for four weeks, and then bring him back in again for a novice chase campaign. He'll be 7 in March and given he was bought as a chaser, so they may not want to wait another year with the conveyor belt of talent they have coming through.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

It's an interesting option and theory, however I'd question him ever going over a fence what with his knee issues he seems to have, surely landing from higher up will only have worsening effects on them?
