Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

  • Everyone will be pleased to know I have a slide rule that I use for my own charts. Fortunately I was smart enough to laminate them too.

After jiggling one around over the other for the last half an hour or so, I used my abacus and came out with 152 for Metier today.

If Metier turns up against Ballyadam he’d finish 3L ahead of him.

A lot of mid-season novice hurdle grade 1’s are rubbish, behind one good horse.

Look at what Abacadabras beat at Christmas in Leopardstown a year ago.

        • The way the yard talk and have talked about BA for so long... they can’t be that far wrong surely?!

I admit he might find one too good in the Supreme but he will surely be placing. 16/1 is a treat of a price.

          • Second time now Metier has posted a good time compared to the other races on the same day over the same distance. I wouldn't be surprised to see him rated 154+ after that.

            • It didn’t take too much figuring out what Fry thinks of him in the interview afterwards.

There’s been some good cases made why his price won’t shorten. I think he will and will firm up into clear second favourite. I’m not sure what else is out there to stop that happening. Next week the pundits will latch on to how quick he was, and as soon as the speed guys write their pieces for the RP, ATR, and Twittersphere he’ll shorten again.

              • Albert bartlett is always abit of a puzzle for me ... jumped on Farouk D’Alene after his loss on the exchanges at 55 and nice to see him win next time out but would be great to get peoples thoughts with just over 2 months to go

If they do it will be the worst 154+ since Solo he could of run to a silly figure but he didn't have to. I'll say no more now as I'll be bickering it all night.

                  • For me stattler for mullins looked really good and a real stayer, he is by stowaway who is pretty much everyones old man, but it would suggest he can stay at least..i think this market doesnt seem that deep either and off his run in fairyhouse hes still a very good price considering galliard du mesnil looked more a

Spare a thought for the handicapper here, it’s easy to say horse x/horse y shouldn’t get a rating of 152/154 or whatever until they turn up in the handicaps and demolish competitive fields....

Speaking to the wrong guy for sympathy for the assesors, I've been vocal on that this year. They get paid to rate on performances and not what they might of done, it was a graded race not a Irish beginners race.

ill add it's not a bad thing disagreeing thou as that's why folk do their own numbers whether that's speed or ratings.

Yep, I just don’t want a system that encourages trainers to hide horses abilities and target handicaps rather than big G1s.
