This has now seeped into another forum. Is the advice of this forum to limit our bets until this secret identity is revealed so we all save ourselves some money. Historically winners of supremes and ballymore have had at least two and usually more than two hurdle races prior to Cheltenham so it’s getting a little late for a horse W/o previous hurdle experience to emerge. Does anybody have a sense of how much longer we might have to wait.
Wtf!!?? Care to let me in on this secret mate?

I’ve read on now,I see that the horse in question turned out to not be as good as first thought

        • Anyone got any thoughts on Power of Pause for the Ballymore. Surprisingly not listed by most firms. But he was obviously highly rated as a Bumper horse and has done absolutely nothing wrong over hurdles. Same owners as Appreciate It so if that horse goes to the Supreme, the Ballymore would look the obvious race.

Other than Fly Smart and Gallyhill I don't think anyone has anything else up their sleeves ready to take the markets by storm.

I think Appreciate It is as solid a Supreme favourite as we've had since Douvan. I'm looking forward to a NRNB price for him being 'backable'.
I've been doing a bit of further work on the Supreme, and I've found one that's definitely worth adding. The race is lacking any depth and quality on what we've seen so far, and Appreciate It aside (who may still go to the Ballymore), it's very thin on the ground for Mullins candidates in particular at the moment. We'd usually be talking which two or three from ten are going here, not scratching around thinking about horses that haven't yet seen a racecourse.

With all that considered, it's not impossible Power Of Pause can become the horse they thought he was going to be last season, and could go there as one of their best two chances. Because of the hype people will be cautious, and they'll need to step him up to a graded novice in the next couple of months, but they have been ticking away quietly with him, and now his maiden and novice hurdles looks half decent in retrospect. We also know that he's a horse that they were particularly excited about a year ago. Disappointing in his bumpers is an understatement, but that's not been the case since he's gone hurdling.

I've made a point of watching and comparing his races from last season to this, and he looks far more mature both physically and mentally, and whilst I'm sure there's more improvement to come I've managed to banished the doubts that I have from what I saw last year, where I just binned him as all hype.

In a market that is all over the place he's a forgotten horse, and 33/1 with cashout seems fair enough to me. And given we are all struggling with the race, he seems an easy one to get onside before his next run, where you'd presume he's be stepped up in grade, and his price will drop to 20's just on the entry.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

I'm hoping he might be my answer to Mullins County horse. Could be Saint Roi all over again.

Weird that we both posted about him at the same time then! Would you not think PoP would be more a Ballymore type? I would myself, especially if AI goes for the Supreme. I want to back him, but not without the security of cashout.

Agree re Power of Pause. He is on my short list.connections obviously rate crosshill although I did think he was too keen and POP took advantage a little but was still impressed.

re capodanno I apologise for missing this. I can breathe again

I think the opposite CCM. Power Of Pause looks speed to me, whereas Appreciate It looks a stayer with a high cruising speed. It was Willie's comments about not ruling Appreciate It out of going back up in trip that put me onto him. After his performance at Leopardstown I thought 'why say that', and immediately started thinking about Fly Smart again coming out and perhaps that he was thinking that he rates him as his number one. That may well still be right. but then when i worked my way through the market I remembered that thought, and that Power Of Pause is owned by the Mastersons, so I took another look. I think Willie's comments may have been because he thought about Power Or Pause. I like to read between the lines, and think about why they say what they do, and it often puts me on to a train of thought and a bit of investigation.

A look at the breeding of the two horses would also suggest which way they'd ideally go that way too. And as I said before, it was no secret last year that before PoP's poor showing's on track they rated him potentially as their best bumper horse. High praise indeed if you connect the dots, with Ferny Hollow and Appreciate It first and second in the Champion Bumper. And prior to Ferny Hollow being ruled out they were the favourites for the Supreme and Ballymore this season. The penny has definitely dropped with Power of Pause so it's not inconceivable he's about to become the horse they thought he was.

I've personally no strong feelings either way on his breeding. Doyen's seem fairly versatile to me and I think the horse would have absolutely no issue with the Ballymore trip. He stayed very well at Clonmel over 2 1/2 on desperate ground. I think a fair few of the better novices would go equally well in either the Supreme or the Ballymore tbh. That definitely applies to Appreciate It as well. He'd likely win either race.

I think Willie didnt want to be too dogmatic as he knows there will be a huge over reaction to what he says and if targets change. But I felt pretty sure he sees the horse as a Supreme horse after that. He will run over 2m next at the DRF next so if he wins that well I don't really see why they would move him up. Always nice to get the week off to a flyer! Clearly the only thing that could change that is other horses, as we have already discussed.

What about Mr Coldstone Lobos? Was impressive earlier in the race Saint Roi won last year?

                          • Magic Tricks is still one that interests me for GE/JP.

33/1 with cash out still available. Has an entry in the Lawlors Of Naas, which I'm hoping he doesn't run in, instead maybe gets an entry in the Moscow Flyer.

He’s one I’m waiting on too COD. Gordon was shocked he was beaten in a bumper and I loved the way he quickly put distance between himself and his rivals before the last and stretched away on the run it. A bit surprised he seems to have been a little overlooked considering his colours, trainer and the fact he's a brother to Abacadabras.

He'd have to step up again to be getting near Appreciate It obviously.

                              • I think the reason why they ran Appreciate It against Ballyadam is coz they know Ngolo is no where near as good as Appreciate it and the proximity of the horse forced then into picking up a cheap G1, I wouldnt be shocked if Willie ran shewearsitwell here if they can get her back with the mares allowance
