  • I do think a quick check for 2022 prices in the lead up to 2021 could be a useful angle in finding which novice hurdlers will be chasing the following season...

    • Has anyone seen the quotes about Heros D’Ainay staying in France?

There was an interview with Heros d'Ainays trainer in Jour de Galop, Heros d'Ainay is now on his mid-season summer break. His target for the year is the G1 Prix Cambaceres. One of his owners also told JDG in a recent interview, Heros d'Ainay will not be sold as he said the market won’t be as good now to sell horses and he owes it to the trainer and the breeding operation to keep the horse.

        • I heard a conflicting story that he was going to be sold for a crazy amount, the story contradicts what i was told, fair play if they decide to keep him with the sorts of money they are talking about, I wish them all the best.

With not a lot going on I thought it might be a good idea this far out to have a thread where people can post info regarding horses targets as and when they see quotes from connections. We could keep this just for specific information rather than our opinions on where horses could/should be targeted.

            I’ll kick things off...

            ENVOI ALLEN -
Patricia Thompson ‘You’d like to think he’d kick on to chasing next season. I don’t think we’ll be aiming at the champion hurdle. I can’t see that.’

Gordon Elliott I’ll have to discuss it with the owners, we’ll enjoy today and see what happens. He was bought to be a 3 mile chaser that’s all I’m saying.’

Gordon Elliott (Is chasing the plan now?) ‘Yes it is. All being well he’ll start off in a beginners’ chase at Down Royal next season.’
When you look at the comments from Gordon and Willie regarding Envoi you get the impression the RSA would be the target.

I mean, Willie wouldn't have a clue what Gordon has planned, would he? Quite competitive between the pair I'd imagine.

Pretty sure Samcro was alluded to being a potential Gold Cup horse, but natural progression means he could win the Marsh and still end up there at some point. Big thing for me, is whilst younger, and maintaining the toe, stick to shorter trips, then make your way up, as I am sure Envoi will do. It wouldn't be a shock, if he did go down the RSA route, but at this present time I don't think many are thinking that is the way they will actually go.

Haven't been through all them quotes since the opening post, so I'm glad you quoted the whole lot, some interesting ones in there.

Agree some cracking quotes there. Sounds like Defi will go Champion Chase again from the quote? Quite interested where Allart will end up if he's staying over hurdles ? Has there been any quote to suggest Envoi goes Marsh. Betting would suggest it but that sort of spiralled in the back of everyone thinking that would be the best route for him. I've got a little on Envoi TWAR but the price is shit. Want to back him for Marsh but would like to see a quote somewhere.

I see the quote re Defi, but I'd be astonished if they weren't to step up at the actual festival. Allart, only rated 143, could be a handicap job if not good enough against the top lot, wanted 25's for any race, but only 20's although can be boosted.

No quotes I have seen regarding EA and the Marsh, I guess it was just visuals and opinions that have made the market for him in that race. Though yard sponsors are stand out in both races, I'm not convinced they would want to be lone stand outs for the Marsh, luckily there are a few at 9/2 for him for that race. The other company (Sky) for the RSA, are in bed with PP/Betfair anyway, so maybe that's somewhat telling, just a guess really though.

                  • Reading that Allaho quote a small part of me is thinking Champion Chase.........a larger part says Ryanair. Glad I did rekindle those quotes now. Gives me a lot to think about.

Very interesting re Allart rating. Thanks for that. 20/1 TWAR will do for me. I like him.

He (Ronnie Bartlett) has a few interesting contenders for next season. I suspect most will end up down the h'cap route. Allart, Galvin, Stattler plus part owner of Angels Breath.

                        • On the subject of Defi Du Seuil, most people think he'll be split up from Fakir D'oudaries, but JP isn't afraid to let his own take each other on. FWIW I think they'd both be better going down the Ryanair route, but I can see both of them pitching up in the Champion Chase.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

As much as this is the case I can see them being split in this instance. Defi is not a 2m chaser. He won weak renewals. He shouldn't have been going down the QMCC route in the first place, IMO. Fakir could, I believe, reverse the form with PTKO, again IMO, and would obviously need to to anyway to have any chance.

                            • Whilst the Allart rating looks good now, what are the chances they'll want to protect that all the way until March next year? Unless he's a genuine Champion Hurdle improver and they take something in en route. Would they bypass all the best 2 mile handicaps in favour of the County Hurdle?

No, they won't bypass every 2 mile handicap, but they may well start him high (graded event(s)), his mark will likely drop (provided a poor showing) after showing as not being good enough, then may take to a handicap or two. Of course, the chance is there to back him for the Champion Hurdle, but I don't suspect he will be good enough for that, not at this stage anyway.
