What do people realistically think of his chances in something like and Ebor?
Was 105 last year then 103 and 101 the previous two years. I’d make him a player off around 105 but definitely not chucked in. I think he’d get massively overbet.

Agree would be some training performance. Say it happens and he does win the Ebor - what sort of impact do you think that would have on his CH price? He is already 5/1 - he couldn't get cut too much shorter than that, could he??

        Yes.
        Yes.
        Yes.

I think the available today 5/1 for the Champion Hurdle is an absolutely awful price as well.

Happy to debate that with anyone

Who do you think is the most likely winner at this stage with price put to one side

          • Ignoring the unfortunate passing of a often troubled horse, few updates on Hobbs leading lights.

Would have to be Epatante for me. She still has scope to improve further.

If I was to have a bet now, it'd be Saint Roi at 25's.

What happened to Sporting John was very strange, I read originally that he ended the race quite distressed but that would make sense. Is that the kind of thing that can happen again in a horse? He’s a big price in the TWAR market at 25/1??

I’d be worried with him that the next tine he sees Cheltenham is most likely to be at the Festival next year. The horse remembering how distressed it was up the hill is surely a worry for punters.

Why have you come to this conclusion, is it coz of the lack of racing due to Covid? There are plenty of opportunities throughout the season for a novice chaser at Cheltenham pre festival. Just wondering if ive missed something, cheers

                      • I'd be more concerned that they don't know what caused it. This means that they can't take remedial action so no-one can know if it will happen again.

Yeah that's an attractive price if you are willing to forgive his run.

Not one I'll take now, but if he's as good as I thought he'd be he'll be single figures for a Novice Chase, not 25/1.

Too early to take a punt on that though... I'll hover over it during his chase debut though if I can.

How many of his best ones does Tizzard bring to Cheltenham as a novice chaser?

In the past couple of years..

Copperhead and Reserve Tank - no.
Lostintranslation and Slate House - yes.

                            50%

We’re see what happens but it’s just something extra to think about

I wonder whether the tough race conditions from his previous run at Ascot just a month before took a lot out of the horse as both Copperhead and Riders Onthe Storm underfperformed at the festival, after also racing at that same Ascot meeting.

With Copperhead you can also apply the fact that a lot of Tizzard's big hopes underperformed so I definitely think he is one to keep an eye on, along with Sporting John. Happy to wait before committing any money though.

This is the first time I’ve heard this view.
I know the yard were very keen on ROTS and when he came down he was close enough and travelling as well as anything, they were convinced he would have gone very close.
I’ve had some 27 matched for the race next year and will be happy pressing in the Autumn if/when the target is confirmed.
The market will be dominated by multiple Irish big guns, most of whom won’t line up here, so there should be continued value on ROTS right up to game time...
