If she's beaten, shall we all give up?

Writing off an Arkle winner, that pushed on so well that she beat the 3rd by almost 20 lengths, is madness.
Just because she wasn't the sexy horse that was "supposed" to win would be nuts, wouldn't it?
Or wallet talk, because she beat what we had backed, and that must be a fluke.
We are better than that, I hope."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

I also read that having had a long summer break she will be campaigned different this season. Arriving fresh last year was a success but it seems that this year she will be campaigned over the winter, so for me it's an unknown how she will cope.
That being said, I won't be writing her off, just a watching brief for now!

It's just that, for now, and I could easily be wrong.
It's definitely part annoyance on my part (but that's normal for me)
Because I agree completely with the rationale for why the front 2 could be very useful.
They probably should be viewed similarly to the front 2 in the supreme, who appear to have been almost universally accepted as very useful. These have been priced up like it's guaranteed good form. Whereas the arkle is viewed with more circumspection.
They all have to come out this season in a different league and show where they stack up.
I actually quite like the idea of Fakir in a Gold Cup, so excited to see how he does when he tries 3 miles first time.

It's easy to write off arkle winners after they've been shit. And Footpad was certainly expected to do more. By many experts.
And the time was better than the champion chase, on worse ground.

There is some amount of holes in these arguement.
First of all the time, "the best supreme in years" was 17 seconds above standard while the arkle was 16 seconds above standard. The time was 2 seconds faster than the qmcc on slower ground.
6 didnt finish? 5 didnt comolete, Cash back and esprit du large were falling out the back of the tv when they fell, 1 pulled up, Murphys horse hadnt jumped a fence the whole way around
She had a busy campaign last summer and ran to form everyday she was out. She may or may not win or place in a QMCC but not for any of the above reasonsLast edited by Dessie the great; 12 October 2020, 10:48 AM.

Don't get me wrong, I was impressed with PTKO, but I disagree with the OP that it's madness writing off an Arkle winner because they hold the title of 'Arkle winner'. Yes, it's easy using recent example after they have proven to be shit, but it's equally hard to go the other way and find reasons to oppose an Arkle winner based on the points I've outlined.
I think I said in an earlier discussion.
Arkle winners have a very good record, but 9/10 it's either a clear standout arkle winner (throughout the season) or one with an very good hurdle rating.
The last 2 renewals lack that aspect for sure.
We'll agree to disagree on the times.
The ground will produce a big variance on these for sure.
The one thing the front two did demonstrate was to go a championship level gallop, and maintain it. The other horses in the race had there guts ripped out of them or other mishaps.
