          Nice one! Short and precise

agreed with your thoughts on the Arkle, weak. Can see PTKO being in mares, and even then I’m not sure I’d back her as I think Mullins will have 1-2 that’s better

          • De Bromhead says Schloer for PTKO... I reckon they're going to AIM for the QMCC. The owners club seem to enjoy aiming high as well.

Yes, as you can probably tell from the day 1 notes. Its elfile for me in the mares chase. 20s long gone however.

No doubt she still may go qmcc, however she would be somewhat making up the numbers.

Depends what she does in her trials. And who she meets there. Cant see her going anywhere near to beating chacun or altior myself.

So if she goes in deep beforehand and gets a fair beating, They may have a rethink.

                • I agree dont think she's up to Altior or Chacun at all... I would see her price being fairly similar to what it is now if those 2 were both in the race.

                    I'm with you on Elfile.

I got 22/1 the day she halved in price (on 22nd July) having missed the 20/1 Any Race in the WH shop earlier that day.

                    • I still prefer Stormy Ireland who easily beat Elfile last year before disappointing at Cheltenham where I don't think she ran her race. Both Mullins and Nicholls have mentioned that she has schooled well over fences so really looking forward to seeing her make her debut today in quite a strong field IMO.

...22-1 any race (with Hills boost) might be the way to go for Stormy Ireland.

Currently best priced 16-1 for Mares Chase, 20-1 for the Arkle (given Scooby’s comments). Be very interesting to see how those prices are impacted after her run today.

Brilliant. Thanks Eggs. Just taken that. Let's hope she isn't disappointing this afternoon!

                            • It's in the back of my mind that Nicholls doesn't mind aiming horses at other targets, so whilst Arkle and Mares Chase look solid now, it'd only take her to be beaten once for them to aim her elsewhere to gain as much prize money as possible outside of the festival?

Maybe isn't an issue for Stormy Ireland, but it's always in the back of my mind with his horses now.

She strikes me as a more flat track horse than one that relishes a hill and a battle.

Iv'e always had her as a speedster and not one to fancy lasting over 2m4 on a course like Chelt so would agree, having said that she does have a knack of outclassing a field when presented with the opportunity. The last thing we want in this new Mares Chase is one horse rated 150-155 and the rest 135-145 that is a fear for me as it basically renders it borderline G3.
