Hello Fat Jockeys,

  • At the end of last season, Kemboy was favourite for the 2020 Gold Cup at 6/1. He had won 3 G1 chases. Even though I was biased in his favour, I stated more than once that no single figure price was value before the season proper had started.

In the current circumstances, with Aintree, Fairyhouse and Punchestown all off, that comment is doubly pertinent and maybe triply so for a horse like Santini that has not yet won a G1 chase.

Shishkin wins the arkle for me and the long EW money is for 2nd and 3rds...even if he turns into half the horse altior was as a novice chaser (who won the supreme by 7 lengths or something) he goes off 10/11 worst and wins by a few length... I think they will keep him out of harms way and plot his runs well... every trend is in favour at the moment. ENVOI ALLEN wont meet him and your looking for value in the likes of CAPTAIN GUINESS EW but 4/1 into shorter than evens is the same as a 16/1 shot into 4/1 and only getting second place !

He could still improve as has been mentioned but a slight part of me feels this year was his ultimate chance, to get so close! Time will tell of course and next year is shaping up to be special already.

On a side note, with connections having minella indo do we see Monalee dropping into the Ryanair? He did put the staying to bed imo but surely splitting them up gives them 2 live chances, although monalee will be 10 next year.
I liked it enough to check his odds, and saw he's 14/1 or 10/1

        So immediately lost interest.

He got beat in it when he was 8, so 14/1 for him to be better at 10 is just too unlikely for me.

        • Not going to quote everyones comments regarding Santini, but I'd be expecting him to be back out to double figures at some point during the season.

He doesn't win enough to warrent being single figures.

His best piece of form is this years Gold Cup though, so I won't 'rule him out'..... but he's very easy to look past at the price as I sit here now.

Agree mate! I think if he stays sound he goes off odds on for the Arkle, got to admit I’ve had a little on with Goshen for the champion hurdle with to smaller stakes a double with Epatante fir the champion hurdle to cover the Shishkin/Goshen double, you got involved yet?

            • Hi everyone. I’ve been using these forums for a while and just haven’t decided to sign up before now.

I see a lot of talk comparing Altior and Shishkin, and also where Envoi Allen will end up at next year’s festival. Has anyone considered backing Shishkin for the 2021 Arkle and the 2022 Champion Chase, as well as Envoi Allen for the Marsh/RSA and the 2022 Gold Cup? I know you could get huge odds for this double but I can’t seem to find it anywhere, and I’d also like to find out people’s thoughts on this.

I dont think he will lose next season, He'll go betfair chase november and Cotsworld again I think in January . He clearly loves cheltenham and it worked last time. Time will tell I guess..... Hell be 9 for next year and lightly raced so still scope for improvement .

I think Nicky Henderson will have one day in mind for him, you might want to request that he goes unbeaten, you might get a price you fancy.

Request the odds and see and let us know.

They'd need to be massive for me to want to wait 2 years but I'm sure some people will be interested

                    Welcome to the forum.

                      Welcome to the forum.

Thanks. SkyBet have them both up at 33/1 and 40/1 respectively. But only as singles unfortunately. I did request it but I haven’t heard back. I know that 2 years is a long period, and we don’t know how good they’ll take to fences, but I just feel the odds would be too good to not at least have a bit on it.

Probably should have checked the odds first haha!

He just sprung to mind thinking about the gold cup and MI.

Yes should be getting 40/1 plus for Santini to go unbeaten in at least 3 starts. It’s worth it if you think he will.

                          • ....Melon could be interesting next year with the trainer suggesting a step up in trip. Stamina would be an unknown although it wasn’t stopping at the end of the Marsh.

Ryanair more likely but 66-1 for the Gold Cup with cash-out might be worth having on-side ahead of the campaign.

He doesn't win that often... might not be one that is collapsing in price all year?
Although unlikely to get bigger either.

Melon has nearly all speed influences in the pedigree. Plenty of top class turf milers on sires side.
What stamina there is comes from the dams side, where there are stout German influences for stamina. Stayed 2.5 mile no problem but Gold cup would be pushing it. Could he be a King George runner? If he is the cash out option could be worth it.
