Just out of interest, what was the earliest bet you placed for this years festival that won....

My first bet on Cheltenham 2020 was 19/03/2019 (and was a free bet on Topofthegame)

First real money bet was a Malone Road, Envoi Allen any race special on 21/03/2019

First bet to return was Minella Indo 16/1 E/W RSA placed 01/05/2019

First bet to win was Samcro 16/1 JLT on 22/10/2019

Food for thought before getting to involved in March/April/May/June/July/August?

Very good thing to bring up imo. I placed a win bet on Min in August, Dolcita EW in September and then both Envoi Allen and Samcro in October. The rest, and the vast majority of bets that do return are November / December onwards.

I also don't think, at least for myself a rush to get too involved for a while. I usually try and get a few in place before Aintree and Punchestown when I feel horses could enhance their chances (Delta Work at Punchestown last season for albeit a losing example) but we could be looking at very little racing for a while. This plus your point on actually assessing the benefit of jumping straight back in is likely going to see me hold fire for a fair while.

Yeah, I think my plan last year was not to back anything at less than 20/1 and I'll stick to that, with 12 months to go....until we get to the end of the flat season.

(Looks like I broke my own rule on Minella Indo but I remember really, really fancying that at the price)

I would love to have Gohsen at 10/1 and Epatante at 5/1 if I could be certain they'd run .... but it is just too early for singles at those prices IMO

I did envoi Allen 14sand santini 16 singles and double on the day after Cheltenham that is actually forgotten until a few weeks ago. May pick 2 I fancy at a good price but like said above will wait till End of flat.

Got a couple of nice 2020/21 rollovers with Shishkin any race @28s & Champ Gold Cup @50s. Hope Shish goes the Arkle route. Had to back Goshen for the CHurdle as my rollover did that literally Also took 16s e/w for Monkfish in the RSA, 6s Chacun and 8s any race for Ferny. Roll on next year!

Allaho at 12/1 for the Ryanair looks fair enough to me. Can't imagine them thinking 3m2f will suit, 2m5f though? Lovely.

Paisley Park at 10/1 as well That's an over reaction to one poor run isn't it?

Guess would be Shishkin to the Arkle (5/1) and Envoi Allen Marsh at (6/1).

Might slip Malone Road into the Supreme (25/1).

Got the makings of a nice Canadian there

                  What's wrong with meeeee

                  97343/1 though....

                    Shishkin - Arkle
                    Envoi Allen - Marsh

                    41/1 double

This is the same price Altior/Yorkhill were after they won the Supreme and Ballymore, and that worked pretty well when they went novice chasing....

Mullins could have a lovely hand in the Ryanair next year with, after the week's action, it appearing that 2 and half could be Min's, Allaho's and Melon's optimum trip.

I am up and running with:

                          Ferny - Ballymore 14/1
                          Envoi - RSA 6/1
                          Concertista - Mares 8/1
                          Shishkin - Arkle 6/1

Very short prices considering you will have a whole year to run... personally wouldn’t be taking them till at least when the season starts but good luck

Did Gordon give any indication on what they’ll do with sire de berlais? Surely to high for another attempt at the pertemps but he’s 16/1 for the stayers or will they go chasing with him?

A large number of my ante post bets died before the festival started so I’m going to try my best to start saving and have a pot of money ready to go when next festivals NRNB markets start. I’m sure I’ll have a nibble at a few along the way but I noticed that most of my winning or successful bets were placed in February. I did have an Envoi Allen/Samcro double materialise at big odd which I placed in October but that was one of only a few placed early to come good.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how Shiskin, Envoi Allen, Latest Exhibition, Fury Road, Goshen and Allmankind progress next year and whether Imperial Aura and Simply the Betts can improve again
