  • I agree stick with upping the ante, a really good watch.
Any news on Gypsy island anyway, I can't find anything.....

    • Just read here about Halligan and Captain Guinness, truly shocking. Out of curiosity though are there any other Cheltenham / National hunt videos/podcasts that are running at this time of year that anyone would recommend subscribing to/watching/listening?

      • In defence of Andrew Halligan. Again.

He just talks like that, very bullish and brash some of the time.
Comments can come over as very matter of fact on this site on occasions too, although people are quick to correct them these days (which is good)
He just comes across as enthusiastic to me and is harmless enough. To me it is obvious that he is just blurting stuff and is not the oracle.

It's the reporting/replaying of the fake news on here that is the potential issue.

There’s nothing harmless in putting people away in the hope people back a horse for something it’s not going for and laying it for another in the hope of profiting from it. Total scumbag imo

Worse still using a public platform to deliberately row people in for personal gain.

Put it this way, if a Kev or Scooby posted something in here about info they had heard abd supported it with their own views backing up the theory/selection, how many members would follow ?
                I’d say quite a few.

It takes a special kind of selfish to deliberately deceive others for personal profit...

One thing though I don't think he is just blurting stuff out he clearly states he hoped bookmakers would push the Arkle price as punters would row in on the champion hurdle piece and he would get '33/1' for himself. Seems fairly premeditated (Granted he may have said it tongue and cheek his reasoning he didn't clarify it)
He also implied intentionally imo he had inside knowledge in his quote re the target for the year which now would clearly look like he didn't.

Punters watch these shows with good faith in the guests ; I actually don't mind him usually just this one piece I thought was fairly poor.

                  • He has actually replied to the criticism re Gypsy and Captain Gusiness, see below. I think this is what you call back tracking

I'll clarify all that now.So yes, I've been very keen on Gypsy Island but the recent whispers has put a lot of doubt about here getting back to the tack, so this was totally a price thing in Regards to the bumper horses that we were talking about as in, she was the one in that bumper most likely to win at the festival next year.

For Captain Guinness I genuinely though he would spend another year over hurdles with only having the 3 runs, but no less than a day or so after I said it Henry was quoted saying that he will be going over fences.I'm still 100% happy to take 50/1 on him running in a Champion Hurdle. It wouldn't be the biggest shock if he did stay over hurdles.

                    • He's just a bit of a gobshite clearly.
I'd be embarrassed if he put me away.
David Icke thinks the coronavirus is down to 5G ! - And the World is being secretly run by Lizard Illuminati.

                      I don't buy that either.

When I listened to him speaking about the champion hurdle punt, I did not think for a second he had any inside knowledge.
He was just summising and trying to work out potential long term betting angle like many people do on here, he just needs to temper the "wink wink" way of talking he does that's all.
I posted as much when people started discussing cashing in bets.

The arkle comments seem obviously sarcastic/tongue in cheek in relation to his (champion hurdle) thought process being harpooned the day after he said it by a trainer comment.

Anyway - I'm not his fucking dad.

Give him as much stick as you want.

You have to question his research and knowledge anyhow as he didn't even realise Gypsy Island was still a novice!

I banged on about this a lot last season, but we all should be performing our own due diligence. If anyone backs a horse on someone elses say so then they have to take some responsibility too.

                            • Some guy on YouTube shouldn't be taken as gospel (and I cashed out), plenty of idiots on there.

It's not like he's Nicky Henderson saying Binocular is out for the season or owner Rich Ricci saying Gold Cup or nothing for Vautour, this is just 'some guy' on YouTube, you can still make your own decisions and be grown up enough to accept them.

Morally, whether joking or not, he is wrong to say he wanted a bigger price for the Arkle or something along them lines but he's not put anyone away this far out from the festival and the horse near enough the same price he was anyway bar 5pts in some backers cases I believe.
