General consensus on here (from what I've read) seems to be that Allaho should run in the Ryanair next year... I'd be pretty keen on him for the GC though.
I thought he ran a huge race in the RSA, being keen for the majority of the race and still running so close. Admittedly, he did get tired up the hill, but if he can settle I see no problems in staying the GC trip. He's also 6 and was the youngest of the three in the RSA so could be open to most improvement. I see similarities with Santini and hope he can improve to a similar extent.
Looking forwards to seeing him next season in any case.

Has there been a quote about Captain Guinness going over fences?
Just wondering with what happened in the supreme and the season cut short would connections feel they have unfinished business over hurdles?
Only had the 3 starts over hurdles so could be plenty of improvement, only be 6 next year and go chasing season after.

said he ran keenly and the ryanair may be the better race.
Iv'e put a few shekkels down anyway for the G.C.

Plan's they have , if he was always going chasing , could be the sooner the better ??.
Also with the season now ended , I wonder if it gives the Trainers a chance to try .
Their horses out over obstacles..

Does anyone know what Klassical dreams injury or set back was before the festival this year ?
I presume he goes chasing next year, had a shocker of a season this year and looks to have been jumping hurdles like he needs a fence.
Arkle would be the obvious target for me, too head strong for longer distances, his head carriage when he runs would also be a bit of a concern.
But theres also lot to like, Previous Cheltenham festival form over that distance. Thomas Darby, itchy feet, Fakir, angels breath, mister fisher have all won races since so the form stands up okay at the very least. He was Unbeaten that season with graded Wins and a hurdle ratings recorded of 154 and 157 puts him bang there and competitive. Not to mention Willie Mullins is the trainer and his record in the race speaks for itself.
Currently 20/1 and could be boosted to 22/1 with Cash out available. As soon as there’s any word he goes chasing that price will collapse, so think there’s potentially value there. I can’t see too many other obvious runners for Willie in there other then Conterista who could well stay hurdling.
Any one know the word on him at the moment? I’m getting tempted in

Just a thought with him having so little starts, something they may consider.
I have backed for the Arkle (as well as Elixir) as they both seemed to be running big races so if chasing was the plan they attract more at this stage at the prices.

Placed in Albert Bartlett and RSA?
Very different finishes in both of them in my opinion.
Santini has always looked like the extra trip would suit him.
Allaho needing to settle better so he gets the trip is the opposite of what I'd want in a Gold Cup horse personally.
I like Allaho a lot, I wouldn't back him to win a Gold Cup though - 3m2f up the hill will be past his optimum. Even if he runs in it, unless he's looked a different horse I'll be against him in that race.
Clearly talented, Gold Cup not what he needs to be top class.

There will be no decisions made about Allaho until he's back from summer break. Even then, the early part of the season in Ireland tends to push potential Gold Cup and Ryanair horses down the same route.
Coincidentally, off 157 he starts the new season on the same mark as Kemboy did in his first open season. Maybe the Ladbrokes might be on the agenda?

Both are huge horses with massive strides and are very solid jumpers. Santini was pretty raw in his RSA and I thought Allaho was in his, pulling all the way round, surprised he got as close as he did. Obviously there’s a chance he doesn’t learn to settle but I don’t think he’s pulled significantly in any of his previous races?
I would agree they finished differently in their respective RSAs but don’t think Allaho is a non-stayer at all. Mullins has put him in 3 mile races at the Festival both times now so strikes me as he thinks he has enough stamina.
I also don’t think he has enough speed for the Ryanair. I think he’s a classy plodder.

He'll get 3 miles well and he's a good horse and probably win over that trip.
My point was, he doesn't look like he'll relish the extreme test of stamina in a Gold Cup. Winning over 3 miles and winning a Gold Cup are further apart than you're giving credit to.
He has loads more chance of winning a Ryanair than a Gold Cup.
There have been a few horses win the Ryanair that 'lack speed' so that wouldn't put me off him.Last edited by Kevloaf; 4 April 2020, 04:59 PM.
