Similar to how you must have felt about UDS and Faugheen.
Start chipping away

Never a good sign.
Sorry I attempted to answer your question. Well done on 'not getting swept up' on Annie Power and your massive double that year.
Out of interest, why did you not fancy Annie Power?
I could have done with your superior knowledge that year, I thought she was the best chance of the lot!Last edited by Kevloaf; 3 February 2021, 07:25 AM.

It reads like you think it was skillful to avoid Annie Power that day
Better go be lucky than good though isn't it!

Since we're talking about antepost accums and running up money, I've always wondered what other people's way of handling them are. I've seen in a few threads recently that some people don't use the exchanges (and often have a big dislike towards them - don't want to get into the pros/cons here, or whether they're 'ruined' racing) but I definitely have a habit of trying to hedge my bets if leg 1 or 2 is up. Sometimes even on leg 1 which I'm considering on the day with Shiskin.
So my conversation starter (hopefully its worth a bit of a discussion but i was reticent to open a thread!) is:
Do people hedge their bets during the actual week as results are know and how? (I assume there are plenty that try to cover more runners in their own book, but for me the calcs get very messy with loads of different perms running so its usually a straight lay on BF or occasionally a few b/o's)

My 'hedging' hardly ever involves laying.
If (and hopefully I am) in a position where a multiple is rolling on to a 3rd selection, I'll know hw much that's worth (it's something I actively record in a spreadsheet when I place the bet) so I know how much I'll win if 'X' wins...(compared to total stake etc)
I then decide whether to back other horses in that race to balance it out.... depending on A) the shape of that race. B) How strongly I actually feel about the selection! C) My overall position so far in the week (is it a 'shot to nothing' or is it worth 'locking is 'some' profit etc.)
Lots of variables, but that's my brief musings

All depends how much I have on, from memory I think I payed Simply the Betts, when I had in in a double last year with Imperial Aura. Had decent odds on them, and wanted a guaranteed profit. Simply won, but I was still happy I did the correct action when simply went off a short price

.....for anybody interested, Ladbrokes have a market (with boost) for the winner by the biggest margin of the Festival. Too many to list, but a few examples;
Shishkin 12-1
Envoi 14-1
Concertista 25-1
Appreciate It 33-1
Monkfish 33-1
Galvin 50-1
Sir Gerhard 50-1

Assuming Royale Pagaille goes the GC, Eklat the RSA & Escaria Ten a h/cap. Then Galvin might be a shot at 50/1.
Coco & Lord Royal won’t be push overs if they run, but there could be some tired horses by the end of the race so a large winning margin may be possible.
50/1 may look generous if so.
