Cheltenham 2021 - Ante Post Bets

Hi TKP. I ran the competition last year and put the thread up on the 16th Jan with a deadline for selections of the 19th Jan.

I'll get a thread up today or tomorrow and get the ball rolling.

First post but just wondering what everyone’s opinions are on antepost bets already placed for Cheltenham and what will happen if Irish runners cannot attend or the likelihood that only some can attend. I know Betvictor implied on RTV the other day, their rep Sam, said they will look to refund but does anyone know if any other bookies have said this. I have mine mainly with William Hill the most and they gave just restricted my on horses, so can’t see them rushing out to refund as they are a nightmare to deal with.

Also we need to push that if some handicap runners can’t attend, for instance say The Bosses Oscar can’t attend as not a grade 1 horse, that books refund these as thst isn’t our fault.

Any opinions or info on this?

B365 aren't usually ones for justice refunds so it'll be interesting to see what they do.

These gestures are great but they muddy the waters, you can bet your life that in a few weeks there will be a ton of Irish horses who are entered and either injured/unfit with no intention of travelling over but the yards will be totally silent because connections may be able to get their bets refunded, goodwill gestures could very well encourage foul play...

If football is cancelled then the anti racing crowd will then be out bringing up last season it shouldn’t of had Cheltenham on etc, going to be a nervous few months.

Great post mate! Was thinking about all of this yesterday! It’s just unbelievable the amount of things that have potentially could/have gone wrong pre Cheltenham! Am literally fed up of it all now!

If football gets cancelled racing will follow suit almost immediately, i think i am right in saying it was cancelled during the week of chelt this year, and if it wasn't for the showpiece that is the festival week, racing would of been the same day imo.
