The obvious race for him is the Ryanair, no?

When they have a horse going for a 3rd Gold Cup, I'm not sure they'll avoid ABP, but it doesn't make sense to force a GC horse when he looks like a Ryanair horse?
A lot can happen in a year. No gaurantee ABP makes the race. 33's is worth chancing melon IMO

Always good to have the option.

The horse has already proved a very decent bumper horse, and has a debut just behind his more experienced stablemate Front View (a 140-ish hurdler), so I can see Uhtred being a really food shout as a Novice with a good level of experience already, still only 5, going into Novice Hurdles.

Uhtred Supreme and Farouk D’alene Ballymore double is going to be my starting point. Will likely add one more for the treble.
Put The Kettle On (Champion Chase), Captain Guinness (Arkle), are a couple to consider.

I would like to see Put The Kettle On in the CC but with the introduction of the Mares Chase I'm still hesitant to take a chance. I've put some on Elixir D'Ainay for the Arkle at 50/1, a lot of people here seem to be eyeing Captain Guinness though...

Since I said this 365 have cut the price of Elixir to 25/1.

I'd say both need considering if you're building a book on the race. No one knows how they would have fared if they'd not been taken out in the Supreme but they both seemed to be going nicely at the time and due to be involved in some capacity at the finish. Both are pretty inexperienced so open to improvement.

Reckon you may well be right - but I don't think that's the way Willie's camp see it.

Mullins said this about Melon after the Marsh: "He ran a fantastic race, and that's the fourth second place in a Grade One he has had here. The cheekpieces have definitely helped his jumping, as he was gaining lengths and on the whole it was very good.

"Hopefully he might race in the big one (Gold Cup) in the future, as he jumps and stays."

Patrick Mullins quotes after the race also give an indication of the way they are thinking.

He said: "He has run a cracker and we know he stays very well, so I would say that we could probably go up in trip again. I think that is the way to ride him, use his stride and use his jumping. He is a kind horse at home and its just disappointing to get beat."

I reckon you've got to take Willie and Patrick's quotes at face value. They weren't under any pressure to say "he might be a Gold Cup horse next year". But they both volunteered comments that suggest upping the trip is where his future may lie.

                  We shall see!!

                  • Wouldn't be surprised to see Elixir get the Aramon treatment for a County tilt.

JP has a few nice novice hurdlers to go chasing with but I wouldn't say they have enough depth to leave one of their best behind to plot up in a handicap. Given the results of novices in handicaps this year I'd say its more likely they target the County with another novice if they have the ammunition.

Yeah fair enough, hadn't seen/heard the quotes.

Not one I'll be rushing to back as I don't think it's value at the moment but definitely one to watch out for!

I can't imagine needing to rush to get the price, he's unliekly to have a string of 1's any season....

Wouldnt put you off Mister Fisher at 33's. I think this years ryanair showed APT to be as good as he is is so wouldnt be rushing to back him personally. I think Simply the betts is interesting at 25's. He battled back well to win going away from Happy Diva (who is usually strong in a fight - we saw this from how she beat Brelan D'as in what was the paddy power). If he continues his progression he will be bang there next year. 25/1 seems fair enough to me.

Mister Fisher has been expensive to follow for me the past two seasons. He'll probably turn up the year I don't back him.
