Crowdfunder - Fat Jockey Forum upgrade

Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

One thing I always do and find incredibly reliable is not to book anywhere, be it a hotel or restaurant, that isn't a 4.5 on tripadvisor or 90%+ on booking.com with a good number of total reviews - I've travelled a good chunk of the World and this has never let me down, either expensive spots or just cheap but well run and friendly B&B's. Kind regards, Judith.
I have always booked direct personally, for just a king size with balcony, breakfast, and 3 course evening meal ( without Alcoholic drinks) for 2, costing 2/3rds of the 1st ammount per night.

never had any issues there, and the bar / pool,... is full of itv presenters, pundits... betting company reps.. if thats anyones thing

they have a temporary studio there also, and are running over what used to be the morning line in the bar, for the next day .. assuming itv are still housed there.

It must be said that, I obviously didn't go last year, and haven't tried to book this year, as I have my little one full time, so whether the pricing has changed due to it becoming popular in the mean time, that may be the case.

If anyone wasn't short of cash for what ever reason, as mentioned manor by the lake, is indeed very pricey, however It is so all year round, and arguably rightly so, with the quality of service....
I have seen the likes of premier in marked up higher chelt week

The closest place with cheaper options is likely Tewkesbury, in the annex of pubs etc.. that don't advertise on the likes of booking, and also don't realise they could mark up...

But yeh, 99% of people will be booking straight after chelt with a deposit for the 2nd Tuesday in March, and assuming it's the right date.

When you become an old git you might want to move outside of the town, we've stayed in a number of different hotels/cottages in Bourton on the Water, Stow on the Wold, Winchcombe, a very good hotel if that's what you're looking for is the Wyck Hill House.
In recent years we've preferred self catering cottages and have stayed in Chipping Campden a few times which has a great array of pubs and restaurants, it is a treck from the course and cabs aren't cheap but you get a great atmosphere with genuine racing fans/connections without the fights and public urinating and vomiting.
It's all part of getting old lads I promise you...

For a virgin Festival goer you simply have to sample the best Thai Restaurant in the world....The Thai Emerald. Fabulous place where you are likely to see several top trainers, owners, celebrities ..........and me eating! Enjoy!
The Strand now has new owners, may be worth checking on the quality of the breakfast, previous owners are now at The Royal, Charlton Kings (2-3 miles away)

I go with couple other mates ( 2 of us are members) and we have been going every year for 25+ now and....We were lucky enough to find a house right by course (crazy how near), which been in 12 years now and lot less per room than this, with a truly awesome breakfast!

We usually have a room free most nights, but this is prob not best year with Covid to introduce anyone new

However, if any festival regulars wanted to join group - sorry, we are old buggers (50's ).......then maybe could meet up this year and get to know people. Important, as we are friends now with hosts.

If anyone interested, message me separately

For anyone looking for this year, i have looked at back-ups many times in case our hosts ever stopped doing it......and if you haven't planned it miles in advance.....an option is to stay several miles away and drive in......needs planning carefully with routes and parking....but def possible specially if you are staying all week
