Yep, she likes to get her toe in. I'd imagine she'll go off a backable price during the week .

    • Was really surprised that Elimay was beaten and the excuse that she didn't travel over is running around my mind.

She travelled over perfectly fine for her run in this race last year, and I keep thinking about how I'll feel if she ran again, won, and then was back to being half the price...

I think I'll be annoyed that I haven't had a fair bet at 8/1. Each way.

Not backing things each way this far out has stopped me so far..... may wait until she's entered up again..... but there aren't 3 horses better than her for the Mares Chase are there?

      • The travelling over excuse was because she did it twice in one week having travelled to Carlisle and back last weekend before it was frosted off. That would take the edge off most horses I'd say. 8/1 is a huge overreaction imo .

Think it was more her having to travel over on the ferry twice in the space of a week as her race meeting the weekend before had been cancelled after she was had arrived in Britain was the point Aidan Coleman was making. It's feasible.

I've had a win only... just weighing up the each way

Bookies have Concertista, Riviere and PTKO as shorter....

Concertista has a fair bit to prove. RD will surely go Arkle and Kettle looks even more likely to try retaining her CC crown after 2 strong fancies blew out in the Tingle. All of which makes the 8/1 look even better to me.

              • Now guys, I know shit but I build books on listening to you but .. my methods have been over the last 5 years which have never let me down, have meant a performance like elimay means I right her off and don’t cover her at all.. I’m intrigued to hear your approach!

Definitely not something you should do. I actually topped up on Allaho when he drifted over the Xmas period last year. There's a fair few factors to consider before a concrete write off. The Elimay case is a good one and I think 8/1 is a very good price.

Samcro a couple of seasons ago was a prime example.
I think he got lucky myself, but his fans who kept topping up when he kept flopping were rewarded by a whisker.
I reckon it's important to consider the right type of horse and the right race.

Elimay looks the right type to keep faith with, as she has strong festival form, trainer, connections, and target all looking solid.
And even with her not running again all season, it's difficult to imagine her going off any bigger at SP.

Think this was chacun, not elimay?

I think you're right Odin. I've mixed the two up somehow. I make notes on my trackers with things like this for future reference, and I've since tried to find where I picked it up from and can't find anything anywhere on Elimay. So it's almost certainly the case that I added the note to Elimay rather than Chacun by mistake.

                              Yep

It was Chacun returned home sore.

                              • I have topped up a few quid on ELIMAY at 8/1
For sure I think travelling over to the UK twice in a week would have deffo took the edge off
This wasn't her true running, she is SO MUCH better than that, she wasn't happy at any given point during the race
Mares Chase is 99% her target, she ran a fine race last year when touched off and the price is now a fair one and that in itself is a rare thing atm
