If I owned her I'd insist she ran Saturday.
Then go for the mares if not good enough.
Can only assume Gordon has persuaded them somehow.

Is it just too simple to say Concertista is almost definitely going to be the class horse in the race here and GST - Get Stuck In? PTKO looks gone at the game to me and if HDB felt he had her back nearer the time, she’d be going to the CC anyway. For me, it’s a very poor race and even though Concertista was never of the class of a Benie or a Vroum Vroum Mag switching between codes, shes still a pretty good yardstick and is classy. Add to that that she’s shown she jumps well enough over a fence and so many others in the market have questions to answer and I can’t help but think 11/4 NRNB is pretty fair. I could easily see her going off 6/4 on the day in a small field.

Not for me
Form of both her chase runs is windy at best
Shes beat a 135 horse half a length
Then given 5lbs and 4 lengths to a 130 horse
So likely run to about 140ish in her two chase starts
Which is some way off whatll be needed to beat mount ida, silver forever, elimay or a resurgent PTKO
Id fancy her chances more in the mares hurdleLast edited by FinalFurlong91; 2 February 2022, 11:33 PM.

Shes been 2nd, 1st, 2nd at Cheltenhams last three Festival, beaten an nostril twice.
Shes short priced on her Chase form to date, but it’s not out of the question she could be equally as good over fences, and she does put in a shift each time she comes to Prestbury Park."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

Looking at the penalties last year, as things stand Concertista would carry 3lb more than the rest. Except Riviere who would also have the 3lb penalty and PTKO who would carry a further 2lb more if they were to run, which seems unlikely.
So every chance she's giving weight away to the rest of the field. Didn't stop Colreevy or Elimay being one / two last year but worth a bit of thought still.
Still think Elimay is the one to beat. No Colreevy and with no 3lb penalty this year. Hopefully get a prep into her at Naas again.
Mount Ida I'll wait and see where she ends up but an obvious danger.

Shes priced up like she's proven she's as good over fences, which she hasn't
She may well do that at the festival but I personally don't want to take the relatively short price to find out

I'm not with Concertista either and won't be touching her. For me she hasn't looked impressive in beating poor horses this season and her jumping is average.
Mullins will get Elimay cherry ripe for this and if she is close to last season's form then that'll be good enough. Mount Ida looks an improved Mare and is the danger now that they've said she's likely to run here.

Agree with all that and also have Gin on Lime in the mix. Hoping the mid season break has worked for her.Last edited by Irish Rugby; 3 February 2022, 08:34 AM.
