    ….mmm, Champion Chase or Ryanair.

He went down to post in a hood and travelled like a ryanair, champion chase horse

Though I'm not sure he jumps fast enough for 2 miles over fences

I’d also side with Ryanair, but am sitting on some shishkin CC envoi GC request a bet tickets. But with Henry’s post race comments I’d defo be thinking he’s not thinking gold cup!

Iv always thought he had too much speed for the gold cup, but I suppose he may just be a freak like kauto and stay but iv always thought its unlikely

I did think he was worth backing for this when he was 20s though

Totally agree with that, i think if he ran in the gold cup he would get outstayed by the proper stayers, if it was a weak renewal then maybe he could get away with it. Will be interesting what cps do with their horses though.

            • I don't really care where he goes. Its just great to have him back. Let's hope he stays sound and shows us what a super horse he is. This jump season could turn out to be the best for many years. So much to look forward to.

It sounds like they want to run allaho in the king George

If he wins that they will most likely run him in the gold cup despite the stamina doubts (a year older he may stay better i guess)

Then envoi dots up in the ryanair

Its very hard to guess where they will all go tbh, many a point will go down the drain on horses running in the wrong race I reckon this year

If Allaho runs well or wins the king george and they ran him in the gold cup would they then drop a plus tard into the Ryanair and in order to split the three up then run envoi allen in the champion chase !? For me a plus tard should be in gold cup and other two in Ryanair but could understand them wanting one in each race !

He's a fascinating contender tho, no denying that and those with 40/1 slips have done well.
I am hoping the extra 2f and stiff finish will help his cause, we know he likes the track. The 40s is looking very tasty i reckon.

                    • If I had to make a call right now, i'd say Envoi will turn up in the Ryanair. However, I think and hope he's a GC candidate til he proves he's not. To do anything else would be a disservice to the horse IMO. If the run at Punchestown was a failure solely because of an in running injury as it's always been painted, then go again at the trip and get a proper answer to the question.

Edit: Actually i've changed my mind. If I posted about this every 5mins it'd be a different post. Fuck knows ffs... Just keep it simple and send him to the GC so we can all get a run for our Shishkin RAB please Henry!

                      • Really taken with MI today. My keen racing eye told me that he wasn't at his fighting weight (ok, it was Ruby that told me).
He's still the one to beat for me.

                        • Any one think Delta work ran a good race today? Been off for a long time and always needs a run. I thought his jumping in particular was brilliant as that usually lets him down, was really promising though maybe him time has come and passed. Will defo be looking forward to his next run

                          • Can someone explain why going to the John Durkan next is a negative re Envoi being targeted at the Gold Cup?? Several Gold Cup winners/placed horses have come from that race haven't they? Why would Henry bottom him out now over 3m+ when the GC is in March ? Am I missing something?

I would be with you on this one - looked to be staying on okay come the finish too - noted down one to consider in a potentially easier race , especially if softer/a little further in trip

                                I agree AK,

Galvin thrives on decent spring ground, that why he runs at the front and back of every season and not in the winter ground.

By all accounts Frodon was as fit as a fiddle, and primed for the day.

Galvin has never had a sniff at a Grade 1 (or 2) Chase until today, Frodon has ran in 10 Grade 1’s and 11 Grade 2 chases.
It was a good experience for the horse to have, racing against better horses than he has done before.

Not sure we will see Galvin much before Cheltenham now, I haven’t heard any trainer comments on the subject yet though.
