Hello Fat Jockeys,

  • Id be thinking there's something up at Henry's yard

Most of his horses are running poorly

    7% strike rate
    30% run to form

Ted Walsh made the point on RTE that A Plus Tard beat Kemboy by about the same distance in same race last year so he's ran good enough in all likelihood.

Pointless comparing two races a year apart though really

A plus tard has improved since then and kemboy regressed a few lbs on official figures

        • In terms of where the others finished, I'd say that Kemboy ran pretty much to the same standard as in last year's race. He's decent at Leopardstown.

If I were you I would look at adding Protektorat, he looks tailor made for a Gold Cup to me.
Personaly I don’t see how APT reverses with Galvin over the extra distance.

            • Galvin very good today. Hard as nails, doesn't mind a battle, the lad. Won't be fearing the hill like some may end up doing.

                Riding plans should be:

                Galvin - Davy
                APT - Rachael
                Minella - Jack.

The 10/1 on Minella Indo looks too big to me.
Gordon kicked Jack off Indo already, doubt he'll let him. He might end up on Samcro or Delta Work.

                • It will be Giggi make that call and they have every right because they pay the retainer. Hopefully, Samcro will be in happy retirement and they will think long and hard about Delta Work.

                  • ….Galvin goes straight to the GC says the trainer.

Galvin (7/1) ran down 8/11 favourite A Plus Tard in the dying strides to win a thrilling Savills Chase at Leopardstown.

                    • Going to be hard to do the GC / GN double!

Can't believe I've let him slip by at big prices two years on the bounce.

My one concern would be that Davy seemed to be at him quite a bit earlier than Rachael on APT, I think the commentator said "In 3rd and losing ground". Won't want to be off the bridle with 4-5 furlongs left when the pace lifts. Obviously he can stay just thinking he may be shuffled back down the pack a bit in a GC rather than having the clear view he did today.

Someone nit picking and the race has been blown wide open this weekend

Agree entirely re: Minella Indo FM, he saves his best for the Cotswolds every season, I’ll be having some of the 10/1 over the next few weeks!

                        • I would still take apt out of that race over Galvin henry has said many times apt likes to run fresh, maybe the betfair took the edge of him and a nice break now till March when he can come back fresh again. I've got Galvin covered too and he is a big danger but for me apt after a break beats him.

                          • Any thoughts on Shan Blue here? Doesn’t look the most obvious stayer but was going to put up a very impressive performance before falling LTO. Been over 3 miles 4 times, 2 wins, a 2nd at aintree when most likely over the top on 6th run of the season, and then the last in the Charlie Hall when would of won at a canter. Might just be getting the trip a bit better now with age and goes very well fresh. That said I would like to know all is well?

                            • Shan Blue not for me, I'd be interested with him in the Ryanair on good spring ground. Another Allaho like run... but too many question marks
Shan Blue has no chance of staying GC distance

                              • With the strength in the novice division this year along with having lots of experience for a novice I am a little surprised that Run Wild Fred is not quoted anywhere for this

Been well supported for a grade 1 today
If he wins that comfortably then I think they might consider it

The Gold Cup is looking wide open and could tempt a few from left field

I would of liked to see him priced up before today’s run
