Mullins has reiterated that they hope Janidil will make a good 3 mile chaser this season a few times now. Hopefully he can give a good account of himself and put himself in the picture for this today

The likelihood is he hasn’t beaten much, with a regressing 11 year old in Native River chasing him home, but the fashion in which he did it was very good. That was his first performance of 3m+ as well and as someone alluded to he had no right to finish the way he did after pulling for at least half the race, especially with the conditions the way they were.
He has the profile you’d want for the race, first time runner for the Gold Cup, course experience (although his festival appearance wasn’t great), 6 yo going on 7 as well. I wasn’t willing to risk it pre-race but now with the added evidence 20/1 seems fair enough imo. Don’t get me wrong he has a big mountain to climb to compete with the Irish but he could be only real UK contender at the minute. I’d imagine the Costwold in Jan could be his next target, Skelton likes to run them at Cheltenham too.
