We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

Think that's good news for his backers, i didnt think there was any reason to change his route imo. He ran a blinder in the GC and it was his jumping that let him down in the race, otherwise he'd have been upsides the front two up the hill.

      • He’s likely to have another run between Xmas and Cheltenham as well. Same start, with a second run added in, that’s what the whole piece said.

Don't believe that for one minute. They'll just work him a little harder at home. That's just Mullins waffle again.

I would t be so sure. Previously he was at pains to point out that it worked before so no reason to change it....well it didn’t work last time, his victors head the market and one at least looks to have improved so logic says he will change things round now....Einstein’s definition of insanity ...doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome....I’m sure he put it more eloquently though ...maybe working him harder at home constitutes a difference...all I would say to that is in order for the trainer to believe that’s enough of a difference he would have to think he was a fair bit undercooked this year?? Maybe he was but it seems a stretch to undecook a horse with history at his hoof prints. I guess we will know soon enough...but if I was a backer I think I’d want him to change things up a bit.

              • Mighty performance by Protektorat!!

Maybe Bridget should get more of the top ride share from the hubby

                  • Potektorat impressive given how strongly he pulled through the race, thought he's drop off but carried on

Totally agree, had every right to tire and finish weakly after pulling like that for 2 miles but he looked very strong and powered away. Surely the Gold Cup is the aim now

Yep. Gold Cup definitely has to be the aim.

                        • I’ve added Protektorat on the back of that performance yesterday, he was visually very impressive. The likelihood is he hasn’t beaten much, with a regressing 11 year old in Native River chasing him home, but the fashion in which he did it was very good. That was his first performance of 3m+ as well and as someone alluded to he had no right to finish the way he did after pulling for at least half the race, especially with the conditions the way they were.

He has the profile you’d want for the race, first time runner for the Gold Cup, course experience (although his festival appearance wasn’t great), 6 yo going on 7 as well. I wasn’t willing to risk it pre-race but now with the added evidence 20/1 seems fair enough imo. Don’t get me wrong he has a big mountain to climb to compete with the Irish but he could be only real UK contender at the minute. I’d imagine the Costwold in Jan could be his next target, Skelton likes to run them at Cheltenham too.

I hope others think the same.

You know what, he completely slipped my mind haha! I do, I’ve backed him as well as he fits the profile I like.

Make that 2 contenders then to take on the Irish

Ha ha, ,yep hes a contender, and i thought Protektorat was very good yesterday. Both bring something different to the race to the established ones.
                                Its what the race needs.
