He did - I thought they all ran good races with the exception of Ravenhill who was miles out of depth. As you’ve said though, Delta Work’s had his time & come up short when it’s mattered at Cheltenham (and I’ve lost on him accordingly a couple of times now), have the feeling there’ll be 2 or 3 at least ahead of him come March. It feels like he’s been around for ages too yet’s only an 8yo however. Minella Indo the one to take out of that race for me, was game despite being far from wound up. I still have a niggling feeling one of the younger ones will step up this year however and pip him.

    • Thought Galvin ran a great race today. Would have preferred much better ground and is a better horse left handed. 3 miles is probably the minimum he needs these days as well. 3m 2f around Cheltenham will suit just fine. Wouldn't be at all surprised if they just put him away now until the GC. His record after a long break is faultless. He's definitely a player now. C'mon Big 'G' !

If the run at Punchestown was a failure solely because of an in running injury as it's always been painted, then go again at the trip and get a proper answer to the question.

Edit: Actually i've changed my mind. If I posted about this every 5mins it'd be a different post. Fuck knows ffs... Just keep it simple and send him to the GC so we can all get a run for our Shishkin RAB please Henry!
Agree completely, at least give the horse the chance again at 3 miles. I’m a fellow big (Shishkin double) ticket holder and can’t help but feel we are not going to get a run for our money due to the Gordon Elliot saga fallout and the fact that Henry has an embarrassment of riches lined up for the Gold Cup. If EA was still with Gordon I’d have no doubt he’d be having every chance to prove he was a GC contender this season. Only hope is that EA gets a chance over 3 miles and takes it with both hands so that Henry has no choice. Not liking the chances of these stars aligning now to be honest.

If he wins that they will most likely run him in the gold cup despite the stamina doubts (a year older he may stay better i guess)

Then envoi dots up in the ryanair

Its very hard to guess where they will all go tbh, many a point will go down the drain on horses running in the wrong race I reckon this year
Even if Alloha won the King George I’d have it odds against he turns up in the Gold Cup. While you couldn’t rule it out all the noises from the yard suggest that they now accept that the mid trip at Cheltenham is ideal for the horse

I'm this Lobos. After last year to see him just cantering around taking the piss was absolutely joyous

As the holder of an each way double voucher, Adayar (Derby) 50/1 and Envoi (Gold Cup) 20/1, I'll be the selfish twat who desperately wants him running on Friday !!!

Forgot about that ! I too would love it if he ended up running on the final day. He's a GC virgin so he's got the stats on his side. Fingers crossed !

I think with that voucher you're quite right to be a selfish twat Istabraq. Very nice indeed.

When you think the last 5 GC winners have been off 164,166, 164, 175 and Minella Indo 164 last year then Galvin really has a serious chance on the Friday.

yes he does, Lobos, cos he loves the place too, and stays 3M6F there.

The first to Win or Place in the NHC since Minella Rocco and Native River to try - they were 2nd and 3rd in the Gold Cup, then Native River won it the following year.

On ratings he is a bit better than Minella Rocco and 2lb to find on Native River (on RPRs), c/w where they were rated when they lined up and came 2nd and 3rd.

Good step up from Galvin, but for me, that race was there to win if he was good enough. He pretty much headed Frodon but just didn't have it in him to beat him. He had the race fitness on side, for all Frodon will have been fit as a flee.
Thought Frodon jumped to his left sometimes also and wasn't quite as fluent as he can be. Probably because he's also a better horse LH'd also.

Still don't have Galvin down as a likely winner here but he's 20s still, just not sure how much more progression he's got.

Cheltenham and spring ground can eek out that much more improvement. He wouldn't have liked the ground at the weekend at all. They were in two minds to pull him out. Glad they didn't ! One thing we need to take on board is that all 5 runners in Saturday's race were previous Cheltenham festival winners. It was a proper race. Top class.
