  • Position in the market is hardly relevant to the point at issue.

Chemical Energy hasn't done masses, but on a line through Lunar Display, arguably has the beating of Hollow Games.

Langer Dan was beaten 2 lengths by GDC. Even taking account of the weight he received, no horse since has come anywhere close to getting that close to GDC.

State Man - fair enough. Not a lot to write home about.

Ultimately, I hope this is all a waste of time anyway because HG ends up in the Bartlett. But for me, in the Pipe, he'd be readily opposable.

      It is relevant....isn't it?

What other horses would you pick out that'd be able to match or are well in against Hollow Games in the Martin Pipe? bar the ones the market has already found

I hope he's in the Barlett too.... but still.

      • I caught a video (I think with Davy) where he said that they’ve been disappointed with how Hollow Games has run this season and they were expecting much more from him. It could be that this is as good as he is or he could be one of those horses that suddenly sparks to life come the festival. You don’t need a string of 1’s to win the Bartlett.

Whilst he’s run to a consistent level in his graded races, I feel he’s been running on merit and not being plotted for a handicap. I’d expect him to be in the mix in the Martin Pipe but he probably won’t have as much in hand as some others.

        • Like a lot of others, Hollow Games was on my radar last autumn for this race and he's in a few multiples. Hoping he may be one of those that benefits from the experience, if he does come here. At least with the AB, whatever gets declared we are looking at an open and competitive race with no standout.

          • Think this race will go the same way as the Arkle............to a 50/1+ shot.

            • First time in years not had an ante post position on this race and don’t fancy anything at all at moment.

Backed Gerri Colombe at start of season at 40s but was going to Ballymore before getting injured.

Agree with the above will be looking at something at least double figures here.

              • You'd think Elliott would only send Hollow Games to the Pipe if he thought he was handicapped well enough to have a chance. He's got several bullets for the race anyway, and he's always talked about him being a Bartlett horse. If he does go the Pipe it would be hard not to be interested as he surely wouldn't be tilting at windmills.

That was also said by Katie Young (Elliott's stable girl) on that God awful preview last week...

Stag Horn is my back up if Hillcrest don’t turn up.
                    Think he’s a big player.

Looks that way based on exchanges.

Gordon and Bective Stud hosting a Preview night tonight - should be very interesting now
