Better ground and a strong stamina test will surely suit

Stag Horn also a strong staying 2 miler on the flat

It just wouldn't surprise me at all if one of them improved massively for the Albert bartlett test and the lack of jumping in the last 7f will help too
Stag Horn is overpriced still. Wouldn't normally touch a 5 year old but he's a thorough stayer, hurdles well and has shown pace at the mid distances over hurdles.

Ballygriffincottage 22/1… ticks a lot of the boxes & having written my Eric Bloodaxe bets off this is the one I’m now looking at around that price given a few at the front will come out.

      • Do we think Hollow Games is still coming here? I backed him to place in this before Christmas in what I now concede, is one of the worst bets I've ever placed. Yet, by some miracle, it seems to me that Hollow Games would actually have half a chance of placing if he turned up.

Surely gordy doesn't need him for the Pipe

Confidence from me has grown now Ginto been touted as pretty much confirmed for Ballymore. If Ginto came here think HG would go Pipe. Still could go to the MP. But as I say feeling bit more confident he will show up here!

You must have some record if Hollow Games is one of the worst bets you've ever placed!

I think he's my best result in the race still

            • Taking 11/4 about a horse who was yet to meet any sort of credible opposition, three months before the race, was not inspired.

I may yet end up getting lucky, but in another year, Blazing Khal wouldn't have got injured, Hillcrest would be a definite runner, Ginto would run and Hollow Games would be destined for the Pipe. It was an awful bet

                Hollow Games was 11/4?

Fair play.... I take it back and agree, that was a bad bet ....

Have you had a look at the nrnb Ginto (bally) HG (pipe) bets....

                • I would imagine Gordon would have to think seriously of running Ginto here if the ground comes up good or even G/S as that usually means good at Cheltenham. Particularly with either Sir G or DD running in the Ballymore. Ginto looks a proper stayer.

It was 11/4 to place to be fair. But still desperate.

I'll be honest and say that I wouldn't fancy Hollow Games in the Pipe at all. I genuinely think I'd win a 100m race against Hollow Games

Just out of interest, how many horses have you seen that have the pace to beat Ginto at the intermediate trip so far this season?

                      Name them all.....

I can think of, 2.... maybe.

Haha, really? I think he'd have a gigantic chance in the Pipe. I think he'd set a high standard (from proper G1 form) that other horses would need to be chucked in against to reach.... bar Langer Dan who is clearly a bit of a blot.... people are just obsessed by State Man... as he was talked up as a Supreme horse. May be true....but how much else in those races are absolutely chucked in, well enough to be placing in grade 1's?

                        • He was outpaced by Minella Crooner last time out and MC is a proper boat. I'd definitely fancy Chemical Energy, State Man, Langer Dan and maybe even Hiaou to do him for toe.

Probably just Sir G /DD or Minella Cocooner of those that are likely to run. In my opinion Ginto wins the AB if he runs there, would be placed in the Ballymore.

                              The 1-2-3 in the market

I'd say more horses that stay have won this compared to horses with toe... genuine G1 form at this trip?

What has State Man actually done?

                              What's Langer Dan actually done?

                              What's Chemical Energy actually done?

Any of them achieved more than HG? Are they chucked in against him?

I do think Gordon should run Ginto here, but I am talking from my pocket...
