He's jumped 10/12 fine. Was flat footed at one down the back straight and made a clear mistake 2 ou, but barring that, he actually gets his feet up and down quickly and wins as he likes, posting the best RPR in that trial for nearly 10 years, inc two eventual winners of this race. He is clearly not the 'ultimate snooker table', which seems like a bit of daft comment all things told.

      Keep them coming .

I'll watch it back now on the train to London and let you know what I score his jumping on a scale of 1-10.

        • Right, 6/10 for me which ain't bad. A few novicey slow jumps in tight which you'd expect from most novices although this was his 3rd Hurdle run. One jump (Snooker Table) which cleaned out the hurdle and would have been race ending in March. Did well to win as he did after that mistake but probably beat very little . Still don't like him and won't be backing him.

Yes I’d imagine the likes of journey with me/ginto etc will take over favouritism once they commit to the race and you may get a slightly bigger price on blazing khal on the day. However I don’t think u can rule him out at all, has plenty of racing experience and will have more Cheltenham experience than probably every horse in the field. He’s a great engine and absolutely relished the trip, 1 crack with the whip after jumping the last and he took off up the hill. Got to give him a chance imo
            I think this is fair.
I don't like him as I don't trust the form line yet.
I agree that his price will likely be bigger when more fashionable horses have declared.
            Maybe even double figures.
His eventual price may depend on Gelino's run today, and other form lines.

Very good first point, but I'd be surprised if he doubled in price. He'll be popular on the preview circuit as an obvious one.

If his form doesn't stack up then I'm pretty sure it will.
That's not even taking into account it's a byrnes horse, and he somehow manages to manipulate the market both ways at will.
Probably needs 2 or 3 of the others to rock up though.
I assume he'll not run in Dublin. And get beat.

Taking into account he was giving gelino 5lbs and beat it just over 4 lengths, so on paper he’s probably given it around a 10lb beating. Given the mistake he made and how he won with ease I’d be inclined to nearly double that figure. So I wouldn’t draw 2 many conclusions if gelino was well enough beat today

                  • Harry Fry has very much ruled out Ree Okka coming here on RTV just there, going Aintree instead. Just in case anyone was tempted to back him.

Just done the related double, just in case he wins today.
especially with Ree Oka just winning so well.

                        I’m stealing that.

He's a lovely horse. Great hurdler and I think a step up will be even better for him. Still raced a bit green despite his experience on the flat.

Do you know how flat horses get on in this historically?

Penhill the one winner I can think of off the top of my head who was a decent flat horse. Wouldn't have been quite Stag Horn level. Doubt many that highly rated on the flat have come here though?

You'd think the experience could only be a positive but I'll have to have a look through some past renewals to get a feel for horses coming off the flat.

The strong trend was always (still ?) horses with experience do better, so the likes of Santini who came here as a twice raced horse go turned over by Kilbricken Storm who'd had about 8 PTP and rules starts.
Horses from the flat therefore had that advantage over their lightly raced NH bred opponents.
Doesn't bode well for JFM but I do think this is another unique season in that trainers generally decided the ground wasn't right so many horses seasons started a couple of months later than intended...
