He didn’t have the pace for 2 mile (Constitutional Hill was very impressive though) so maybe this race is once again a possibility. Shame his trainer has an allergic reaction to Prestbury Park but hopefully the owners will lean on him and send him to this race
    Absolutely bizarre stuff with him today. Why they just sat off the leader alongside Constitution Hill I'll never know. He wouldn't beat the winner regardless, but making it a real test may have landed them second. He's a dour stayer of the future, a Welsh National type I'd say.

      I agree, I don’t understand why they did let him go to the front earlier and bound on. Even when he was off the bridle it looked like Cobden was trying to apply the handbrake at times. I had him each way and was confident off a place pre race but the race tactics for him were very strange.

        Think punters underestimated Jetoile today, His 3rd at Cheltenham has turned out to be exceptional form and connections fully expected him to win that race. He was a very good place bet today.

          I agree Lobos, for a small stable like theirs to pay for him to come over was worth noting and he ran very well, much better than I expected…..yet another Irish raider going home with a pot of money!!!

          • Think he trains in England to be fair... Or Wales.

            Was surprised they didn't challenge for the lead myself though. Thought they might get into a battle but guess Cobden thought they were going fast enough...

            • I know Ailie Rose winning at Ayr today has been picked up as a boost to the Gerri Colombe form but it's also worth noting that AR came 2nd to Hollow Games over 2m6f prior to the run vs Gerri.

                  Boosts for my book all round then had another half a point on Gerri off the back of it combined with posts about his target here earlier in the week

                    Aah right, I saw him being interviewed on ITV and given his accent and the grainy poor quality of the online call assumed he was situated in the back waters of middle Ireland operating on dial up internet. I stand corrected and that’s lowered my ‘correct information to post ratio’ to 68% for the week. Need to try harder TKP!!

                    In other news I’ve had the Nicky Henderson trained Walk on Air added to Will Hill’s TWAR market at 20/1 (22/1 with boost). He’s a late starter this season and thought the Bartlett would be his target but he’s entered at Huntingdon in his seasonal debut over the minimum trip on Friday so I’ve backed him up with the 22/1 TWAR just incase he’s Henderson’s other superstar novice hurdler that there are whispers of and he is the stables Ballymore horse as I’ve already got him covered for the AB.

                      I think he is very unlikely to be his Albert Bartlett horse, his entry apart (and I appreciate he is related to meticulous who has won over 3m for JOB), refinements other offspring run over shorter and walk in the parks are not renowned for being staying novices. Add to the fact he is only a five year old and it’s a very low likelihood imo. I posted on the Ballymore thread that I think City Chief may be his Ballymore horse. There was loads to like about his debut run where he got caught in a pocket before finishing very strongly against a decent yardstick. He is out Tuesday at Doncaster I believe and is 40s with sky so if you are seeking Hendos Ballymore horse give this a look.

                      if Hendo has an AB runner I am starting to think it will be wiseguy, he looks every inch a future staying chaser but in all honesty it is not a race the trainer targets and even his good horses that go there tend to be minded for the future.

                        The AB would be a big ask especially as the trend of winners and placed horses over the past number of years are horses with plenty of experience and its looking even more doubtful given his late start to the season but I backed him with TWAR at half the odds just incase Nicky runs him 3 times in 2 months (again very doubtful) to get him a handicap mark and throw him into one of the hurdle handicaps. Again it’s very doubtful but given what happened to the price of Constitutional Hill after his debut I’m using TWAR as an insurance bet.

                        • City Chief entered up over 2m 5f tomorrow. Looked all over a stayer to me in his last race but is actually shorter for the Ballymore. 50/1 (56/1) boosted with WH is a very big price if you think he's coming here (I think he probably will given Henderson has plenty of other Novices to split up and most would have more speed than this one)

                            ….trainer indicates Aintree will be the target;

                              I've missed that quote, have the owners or Gordon said that Gerri is going Bartlett? Do I need to cash out my Ballymore bets?

                                I'm very invested in Gerri Colombe bets and the only thing I can recall seeing is someone on here saying that Gerri Colombe Ballymore and Journey with me Albert Bartlett was the hope. I stand to be corrected.
