So just wondering are people just holding back on him before he runs or just don't fancy him at the moment.

I'm holding back a bit myself as I've wasted money on him on the bumper, so I don't want to get the race wrong again, although I have this as his likeliest race.
Until I find a horse by getaway that I believe to show an inclination to make the most of its ability OR thrive at the festival his offspring are the first I discard. Of course it will come back to bite me sooner or later but finding the one or ones that are going to break the trend is not something I am going to worry about just yet. I’m losing count of the number of false dawns.

I’m only interested in him for this race and have him covered accordingly. Nice to see an entry although he does have some over 2m which is a little bit worrying.

That’s Willie for ya he’s his only novice hurdler entered up this weekend, that holds a 2m4 entry but not 2m, which would satisfy me that this is his most likely festival engagement

Yes you’re right there sorry. Which is probably in line with consensus around that horse too. Though he wouldn’t be on my radar for the festival at this point to be honest which is probably why I overlooked him

But he does have the Future Champions Novice Hurdle entry over 2m over Christmas. Would Willie normally enter a potential AB horse in that race? That’s my concern.

Can’t remember what he entered at this stage last year to be honest, but I think it would be his usual MO, and I deffo remember Ngolo getting an entry in that race, although he was campaigned over 2 miles earlier in the season before heading to the Bartlett so maybe not the best example.

I had been all over him for this race till Mullins spoke about the ballymore coz of the owners connections. When he beat ginto I thought dour stayer and had that view reinforced when he stayed on behind kilcruit. I cannot believe he will be quick enough for a ballymore but this race could suit imo. Anyhow he is of interest to me.

I don’t know the answer either, it just concerned me a little when I saw it. Could be nothing but it stood out a bit as I would not have thought Monkfish would have had an entry in that race. It could just be the weather causing me to doubt so who knows.

Has Getaway produced a festival winner yet??

I’m pretty sure he hasnt and he has had plenty that have been at the head of or prominent in ante post markets. Let me just double check for sure

I ignore them too, until they get at least one winner at the Fez.

He hasn’t yet but it could be dangerous to ignore. If we only backed horses that had a previous winner from the Sire then we’d miss a shit load of winners.

I’m pretty sure the following are by him. The big breakaway, the big getaway, Getabird and sporting John. Either didn’t make it to the fez or badly disappointed relative to position in the market. Verdana blue is by him too ....he throws plenty of150+ horses but for me they tend to disappoint after showing early promise. It will be interesting to see if SJ can make his Mark over hurdles and I am keeping an eye on no ordinary joe for the coral possibly but like SW I want to see one really deliver from the early promise they show.

I completely agree but my logic is a little more than that ..he has or has had over 40 horses rated 136+ And only a few placed horses to show for it. I doubt there are many other sires with a record that poor but maybe wrong
